 Ancient Arena Deul Map
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:47 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

{Nightm@re} made this duel map for Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy that he named Ancient Arena. Here is a clip of what the reviewer has to say about the map:
A bridge from your starting leads into the mouth and over a pit of molten lava.. Spooky! After a short but brisk walk through a small corridor you come into the main chamber that is adorned with spikes galore. Spikes stopping you from falling, spikes making architecture. Spooky once again! Also in four corners are statues which are clipped very well.
From the available screenshots it looks pretty hellish themed.

 The Bridge Is Fixed
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:20 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

I tend to look for maps and spotted this Soldier Of Fortune II level on SoFFiles.com that is named MIF Bridge (Fixed).
This map has been inspired by America's Army Bridge Crossing. It consists of a symmetrically large bridge with a 2000 foot drop. Flags at opposite ends. Gametypes supported: TDM, CTF, CCTF, & INF. INF gametype has briefcase on extraction point, all you have to do is cross the bridge and grab the case at end of road to score (while the other team defends). AA style.
By the way, this map has a bug fix that prevented the flag return while playing Capture The Flag.

 Kenn Writes Up Screenwriting Section
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:47 PM
Category: General

Once more Kenn Hoekstra updated his personal web space and this time he posted up a screenwriting section! This is something he had planned to do for awhile and just now got around to doing it.
Since writing the screenplay for Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, I've developed an affinity for the format. (Note that I don't refer to writing as an "art" or a "craft." That particular expression has always bothered me, and I refuse to jump on that particular bandwagon.) But I digress...Over the past two years or so, I've learned a lot about screenwriting and I hope to pass that information along to other aspiring screenwriters. This will be an ongoing project. Hopefully it will develop into something that someone finds useful someday.
So go to Kenn's World for the latest news about this Screenwriting stuff or just jump right on the page itself.

 Duel In The Examination Arena?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:35 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Here we go again with the Jedi Academy stuff. I rooted around looking at skins and various user made stuff and a lot of it.... well anyways here is an interesting looking Duel map called Examination Arena.
I really like the center area. You don't fall to your death if you do fall ... it's water down below. And it's not too hard to jump back up. I suggest that you play a sabers only duel on this map. The map is designed just fine. It's become a tired theme, though. If Rift is your style though, grab this map.
Theres a couple things the reviewer didn't like about the map and you can read that for yourself on jk2files.com.

 City Of Darkness
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:49 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Now here is a different looking Jedi Academy Free For All map that goes by the title of City Of Darkness. Here is a shot of what the reviewer had to say:
This map was very picturesque. Some parts of the map were probably useless in an FFA (namely the back alleys), but the courtyard/marketplace and canal compensates for that. When I first spawned in and was running between the houses and buildings, it occurred to me that this had the beginnings of a good CTF map.
Check out the 12 screenshots and maybe download that sucker.

 Defiant Class Starship RPG Map
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:34 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Elite Force Files has an RPG map by Will Riker which is a pretty cool looking version of a Defiant class starship.
The lower part of engineering is also very well mapped. It has tonnes of creativity, and has a nice smooth feel to it. As you exit engineering you may move up the hallway to the sickbay, and the messhall. Both are quite small, but it is after all a Defiant class starship.
Get that Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force RPG map and put it in your BaseEF like the reviewer says.

Free For All In A Jedi's Home
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:45 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Usually any map with the word 'home' in the title is something to be avoided or else end up playing some kinda craptacular noobfest. This time around we have a exception and the map in question is titled Jedi's Home (JL) and its all set for Jedi Academy Free For All gameplay. Here is a quote from the review:
It's hard to believe that it's a clan map, but it is. It is obviously inspired by Sevker's Jedi Archives, Griffinclaw's Jedi Council and there are some elements of ShroomDuck's maps here and there too. In my opinion, you can't get much better than combining those ideas, skills and talents. So as you can see from the first screenshot, Shadow Stone played around with a lot of curves. The lighting and textures in the main room are just perfect, in my opinion.
Hit jk2files.com and get yourself a Jedi's Home (JL).

 Lord Kaan's JediVMerc Level
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:59 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Lord Kaan did some mapping for Jedi Academy in the form of a Free For All level called JediVMerc.
I'm already a fan of Lord Kaan's work, but this map that he made specifically for Jedi vs. Merc play I have mixed feelings about. The design is lovely. It's very much like Hevil duel with the curves and whatnot. I do like the textures used and how the whole map comes together.
Looks pretty nice from the five available screenies so go check out JediVMerc.
