 StormReloaded (Beta)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:01 AM
Category: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast

StormReloaded (Beta) is a clan based, FFA level for Jedi Outcast.
Throughout the whole map, the texturing theme is... interesting, and definitely unique. Although personally, I would have gone for something a little less reminiscent of the Digimon World and .hack// games.
That map is hosted on Jedi Knight Files.

 Chubbz's Lair
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:16 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

Chubbz's Lair is a deathmatch level for Soldier of Fortune 2 that is ideal for sniping.
Here's a nice map for you guys. It's pretty big if you're talking about the size: 18 megabytes. The map is pretty nice but that too detailed. It should be fun to play on this map, mainly made for sniper games. The distances allow you to use different weapons too though.
Grab that map on Soffiles.

 Splash The Clone Wars
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 3:43 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

If you want to splash out your Jedi Academy menu screens, then maybe this Clone Wars Startup Pack is just what you need.
This is a nifty little pack which modifies JKA's default sub-menu setup, introducing a new startup screen, loading screens and other various graphics. It is, as you've probably deduced from its title, centered around ideas and images from the clone wars cartoon series, and as such, whilst this may not entirely correspond to JKA's intended graphical style, it is still a welcome change.
Take a look at that Clone Wars Startup Pack over on Jedi Knight Files.

 Unbalanced 1.4 Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:07 AM
Category: Quake IV

Unbalanced (v1.4) was released over on Quake 4 Files. The Quake 4 mod makes various changes to the game, especially the weapons. This may be the final release of Unbalanced as the author is no longer able to work on it due to sickness (as you can read in his read-me file). Anyhow check out Unbalanced (v1.4) if you want to spice up Quake 4 somewhat.

 DM Dangercity
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:29 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Apparently a Elite Force map called DM Dangercity took it's time getting on Elite Force Files ans is now finally ready for download.
This is the famous Dangercity map in all its original glory, created back in year 2000. For those of you who don't know it yet, the map is set in a town with everything you'd expect from it, like for example a McDonald's like restaurant or even a shuttle-train crossing it.
Check out DM Dangercity.

 Keren Citadel
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:59 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Keren Citadel is a FFA map for Jedi Academy that includes new textures and was built in 6 days.
This map fits in pretty well with the Naboo style, however, and will probably seem similar in many ways to every other urban-themed Naboo map you've ever seen. Graphically, anyway. The layout of this map is a bit different than any Naboo map I've seen. "Cluttered" comes to mind. The author kept the map small to keep the action high, but I found that there wasn't really a lot of room to move without bumping into various pieces of the architecture.
Check out that level on Jedi Knight Files.

 Requiem: Avenging Angel TC Trailer
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:48 PM
Category: Quake IV

Requiem Avenging Angel was originally released back in 1999. Strangely enough I was looking at my copy yesterday while moving some stuff around and just today I noticed that the RAA Team is making a Requiem TC using the Quake 4 engine. Originally they planned to develop the mod for Doom 3 but have since moved to Quake 4.
All things considered, Requiem Avenging Angel is a great memory for us, and an unforgetable experience we have shared with our friends. Today, after a topic started by Daedalus29 on NoFrag, we'll try to share again this game who hadn't in our humble opinion the succes it deserve to have... by modding it on the Doom III engine. Finally, the 2005 vacations will make us change our vision about the mod, and especially about the engine. The mod is now developped ont the Quake 4 engine who offer us a lot more possibilities.
If you want to see some of the TC you'll have to download this Requiem Avenging Angel TC Trailer that weighs in at 97.6mb. I just viewed the trailer myself and the TC is looking badass.

UQE Hexen II v1.13 Documentation Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:41 PM
Category: Hexen II

Korax dropped us a message that he's released the documentation for UQE Hexen II v1.13.
It contains the basics of what has been changed in the engine, so keep your H2MP Help documentation handy, since this doesn't replace the original documentation, it just adds onto it.
Currently it contains a quick introduction to the engine, the installation notes, a few tips on how to get some of the new features working, aswell as some developer information regarding some changes that was done to the Server Protocol.
The documentation will be updated on-the-fly, as necessary. Proper announcements will be given when the documentation gets updated.
Just one of the things that would get added to the documentation soon is a list of new commands (cmd) and console variables (cvar) and what their respective functionality is. Any suggestions to what else should be added to the documentation is more than welcome!
The documentation is viewable online, or can be downloaded as a package that can be installed with your UQE Hexen II installation. Hit the Unofficial Quake Engine site for more info.

 Q4Max 0.75 Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:16 AM
Category: Quake IV

Q4Max 0.75 was released and the mod adds many new features and fixes to Quake 4.
Amongst the items in the changelog, you'll see alot of lines marked Performance. This has been another key focus for the team, and we are very proud of the results. We are confident that the majority of players will find a noticable boost in FPS, especially if they take advantage of the new performance options.
The mod is available on Quake 4 Files.

 HOE - The Shadow
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:06 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Master Melkor released a multiplayer level that is called HOE - The Shadow and is designed for Jedi Academy.
There are four offices (they look like them) in the opposite hallway. They're all the same, though, a little bit of diversity cannot hurt. Now, if you follow the hallway, you exit the whole complex and see a little bit of sunshine, a very nice waterfall (save the waterfall shader itself) and a nice... thing that will surely host many duels. All in all, the whole map is pretty good, especially for a clan one.
Check out that map on Jedi Knight Files.

 Delve Into The Stolatene Mine
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:22 AM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Lt. Cmdr. Salinga released anouther Q3 map conversion for Elite Force and this one is called The Stolatene Mine.
This map is kinda special as you will find almost no corner in a 90° angle as this was a part of a geometry contest. Add this unique map to your BaseEF as long as supplies last wink
That's all on Elite Force Files.

 Deathmatch InThe Geo Core
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:00 AM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Lt. Cmdr. Salinga released a Q3 map conversion for Elite Force that is called The Geo Core.
Another Q3 conversion by Salinga of a map made back in 2002. It's held rather small and therefor recommended for 4-6 players. Unlike on some other maps this one has an overall nice FPS rate though.
That's all on Elite Force Files.

 Enter Smaug's Dream
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:58 AM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Smaug's Dream is a Jedi Academy FFA level that is the author's redition of what he figures Smaug's lair would look like and Smaug happens to be the dragon from The Hobbit.
The engraved doors are a nice touch; they look very much like the ones in the film when the party enters Moria. The architecture looked very basic, but the impression it creates is believable. The only real spoilers are the piles of money, which look ridiculous; they're floating off the ground and have smiley faces on them, and there is an area of splodge lighting which doesn't have a source.
That's on Jedi Knight Files.

Beam Down To Old West Town For A CTF Match
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:57 AM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Old West Town is a CTF map for Voyager Elite Force that is designed by Gigon.
The map is really nice, with lots of western buildings to hide around and inside. I'm not too keen on the item placement though, after 10 secconds everybody has a granade launcher or a photon burst. Good CTF map, worth downloading.
That CTF map is available thanks to Elite Force Files.

 The Return Of Heat
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:37 AM
Category: Quake IV

Heat (v6) is a deathmatch level for Quake 4 that is a remake of an older level.
A remake of "heat" from the old Kilnet LAN Quake 2 days... "HEAT" is a bad place, in which bad things happen. It feels "hot" in places, like the original, and it definately has a gritty and unpleasant atmosphere.
Get some Heat (v6) off of Quake 4 Files.

 UQE Hexen II v1.13 Released!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:16 PM
Category: Hexen II

The time has come for us all to dust off our copies of HeXen II as the first version of UQE Hexen II is released!
Ive taken a lot of care to make sure that this new engine beats my old and dead project namely NewHexen hands down. I hope you will have as much fun playing Hexen II as much as I had making Hexen II even better than it was and hopefully through this engine liven-up the good old days!
It's time for the armies of the Raven to dust off thier swords and take up thier staffs and once again walk the realms of Thyrion to put the minions of Eidolon to the blade. Come download a copy of the Unofficial Quake Engine and stop playing with the Strogg and the Dark Jedi for awhile! Documentation is coming soon by the way.

 Butchered Creatures
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:42 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Check out Butchered Creatures over on Elite Force Files. The level is made for deathmatch and is designed by Lt. Cmdr. Salinga.
This is yet another Q3 Conversion by Salinga. A nicely themed small FFA map set in a space area. The gameplay on this map is pretty fast, don't let yourself distract by the nice textures and the sourroundings as that will probably mean your virtual end on this map immediatly.
Go downgrab Butchered Creatures.

 MP Shop Jordan
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:45 AM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

NoS has released a multiplayer level for Soldier of Fortune 2 that goes by the title MP Shop Jordan which is a sort of conglomeration.
This map mixes the middle passages of both MP Jordan and MP Shop 2 and makes one cool map of it. It's fun to play on it for a change. It doesn't look very realistic but hey.. It's fun, that's the only thing that matters.
That's all on Soffiles.

 Sith-J's Mygeeto FFA/CTF
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:11 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Sith-J-Cull uploaded his Mygeeto level on Jedi Knight Files. The level is designed for FFA and CTF game modes and here is a bit of what the reviewer had to say about it:
The look of this map is great, more Base JKA textures have been used here than normal, but that’s certainly not a bad thing! The texturing of the map is great. My favourite bits were the towers over the flag bases, the architecture on them looks really cool! The hills and BIG chunks of rock jutting up (they look like something from the planet Krypton in Superman) look great, they really add a sense of depth to the map.
Check that level out on Jedi Knight Files.

Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:04 AM
Category: Quake IV

Time to hit Quake 4 Files and take a look at Systematic Lockdown (v1.1) which is a deathmatch level designed by phantazm11.
This map was created for the Viacga/Doom3world 1v1 competition, but it is really more suited for 2v2 or FFA. This version has been updated to ver 1.1.
Take a look at Systematic Lockdown (v1.1).

 Light Up Your Quake 4
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:34 AM
Category: Quake IV

We've seen many flashlight mods for Doom 3 but I can't say I've seen one for Quake 4 until this morning. The mod in question is Rhino Squad Light Pack and it adds lights to all the guns that are lacking lights, plus the existing lights on the blaster & machinegun are tweaked to be brighter.

 Unbalance Your Quake 4
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:41 AM
Category: Quake IV

The_Happy_Friar over on PlanetQuake took the time to check out Unbalanced which is a mod that spices up Quake 4. Here is a blast of what he had to say about it all:
This just isn't a weapon enhance mod, it's also a graphical upgrade for most of the weapons. Many of the guns have new chrome looking skins. The blaster has a new hit FX. The machine fun and shotty make smoking bullet holes. The RL finally looks like an exploding rocket! Don't worry, the damage radius isn't that big so you won't hurt yourself, but you're in for quite a shocker when you see one of those go off!
Check out Unbalanced!

 Duel In Omens
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:45 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Omens is a Duel map fpr Jedi Academy.
A Sith facility constructed with a dual purpose - a force crystal purification chamber that doubles as a sith sparring arena. The reactor effects (eye-candy) and industrial mood and feeling of heat set the map off.
Check out Omens on Lucas Files.

 Taspir Outpost
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:03 AM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Darth NormaN has anouther map on Jedi Knight Files and this one is called Taspir Outpost. The level is made for Jedi Academy Duel and the reviewer had this to say:
This is a duel map, which makes sense because it is quite small. The area you start off in is a very Taspir themed room, with loads of pipes and industrial looking stuff and a lava pit in the middle.
Go land on that Taspir Outpost.

 Rurouni Kenshin: Redemption Screens
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:39 PM

I totally missed this but the Rurouni Kenshin: Redemption site was updated since I last checked (not sure when that was). Seems they're showing some screenies of the Shishio Arena map and a new RKR logo. Hit Rurouni Kenshin: Redemption and see what's up with the Jedi Academy mod.
