Twice in a row we have news from Kenn Hoekstra, the Project Admin for Raven Software. Today Kenn announced his resignation from Raven Software and he posted on his site to let everyone know that his departure is both amicable and mutual. Over a period of seven years Kenn has worked on twelve game titles.... well I think thats awesome. I want to say here on the behalf of the Raven-Games staff, that we all wish Kenn good luck with whatever he plans to do in the future and hopefully he'll kick back for a bit and watch that stack of unopened DVD's and have a few beers. Oh and one other thing, thanks for all the kick-ass games, thats quite the collection you helped create. Anyhow, Farewell Kenn Hoekstra! Oops! Nearly forgot the linkage to his site. Head on over to Kenn's World for the full details.

Elite Force Files has this CTF map on thier site that is called Close Quarters. I played with some bots as I was anxious to see the map in action, and I thought it played pretty well. The forcefields in particular gave an otherwise simple map a whole new feel. Check it out! So maybe it's a cool map for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force and somebody around here will want to check it out.

As a level designer I tend to go straight for the levels section when I hit a site that has various user-made gaming content and that's what happened again. So this time around in my search for Raven related stuff, I found a really neat lookin map on SoFFiles.com for Soldier Of Fortune II which supports dm, tdm, ctf, inf, cctf, elim, dem gametypes and will host 16 players. Go get Home Alone by The Tech and get fraggin' or capture a few flags.

Sometimes you have to root around to find stuff online. I find it strange sometimes that soooo many DM maps get made yet nobody makes a damned thing for SP... yeah, yeah, yeah I know, it takes a lot more work to come up with a decent SP map for any game. I just think it sucks theres not more SP maps being made for great games like Jedi Academy. Anyhow I did just find a SP map on jk2files.com called Tournament of Ieyasu. It may be a little dark, have no story but the reviewer said its still a good play. I'm downloading it now and maybe somebody else who roams this site will grab it as well.

Paga released a Soldier Of Fortune II map called Kam Jordan that supports TDM, DM, CTF, INF and DEM game types. When I first saw the title I thought it was a skin but further investigation revealed a pretty nice looking map. The reviewer says:WOW this map is awesome a must downlaod.. This map takes on the same layout of Jor1 with loads of added extras. Most of the doors that were locked in the Jordon map are now accessable, you can get access to the vast roof area, underground tunnels and much more, go see for yourself. So I think it's a good idea to go ahead and check out this map by visiting this page.

Creeping about jk2files.com just now revealed a new Jedi Academy skin called Immy Here is a quote from the review:There are five skin in total. The default, which happens to be my favorite, the red and blue team skins and then one skirt skin and another one with pants that seems to be a combination of the skirt skin and the default. There are a few taunts included and are custom, so that's a huge plus. And there's even bot and NPC support. Great work, as usual, IZaNaGI. So if your in need of a new female skin for Jedi Academy then maybe you should get Immy!

Now Kyle has been sent down there to see if they are using the temple to train troops or even start a new resistance. Apparently Desann protected the temple from easy entry though. I spotted on worthplaying.com a small blurb about Quake 4 that lead to an article on Cnn.com that talks about hardcore gamers and QuakeCon, etc... Anyhow the article eventually reports that id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead said there are no plans to show Quake 4 at this year's QuakeCon. Here is a quote from that article:This year, most fans were hoping to get their first glimpse of "Quake 4," which is being developed (under id's supervision) by Raven Software. Unfortunately, they're going to have to keep waiting. id CEO Todd Hollenshead said there are no plans to show the game at this year's QuakeCon. "We've been happy with what they've done, but it's too early to show," added id's lead designer Tim Willits. The disappointment of not seeing the game could bring out the ugly side of the hardcore crowd, though. Hollenshead said it comes with the territory. "The guys who love you the most are also the people who will blast you the hardest if you piss them off," he said. "We've been trying not to whip people into a frenzy with ['Quake 4']. When we show the game, we want it to be something that's really impressive for the people who have been waiting for it." The full article is right here.

Theres a new Human Female Skin Expansion Pack by Admin Amidala on jk2files.com that greatly expands upon the skin options for the human female. Here is a clip from the description: Yay for new human female heads, legs, torsos and stuff! Now there are countless new combinations for the human female! Okay, not countless. In fact, the author actually added it all up for you and there now happens to be "1628 total variations, without using any of the original heads or 5 out 6 of the original torsos." The new looks are just lovely. I don't particularly care for the orange one in the third screenshot, but it's nice to have more choices. Well if your interested in more skin options for your Human Female character in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy then hop on over to this page and have a look at the six screenshots before you download.
