 Omega Squad Skin Pack
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:51 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

The featured skin pack over on Jedi Knight Files is Omega Squad for Jedi Academy.
Well, for the most part they aren't much like the original Delta pack, since that one had diversity, and different color schemes and patterns for each skin. No, this is not the case with our Omega Squad. Here we have four reskins of the model, each looking almost the same as its predecessor, save for the varying colors and occasional addons like ammo containers etc.
Check out the Omega Squad.

 Old Yavin Duel
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:45 AM
Category: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast

Over on Jedi Knight Files you can check out a multiplayer map for Jedi Outcast that goes by the name of Old Yavin Duel that is designed by KniGht|RidEr.
Here we have a small duel/FFA map base on a Yavin theme. Personally the map itself doesn't seem all the Yavin-y besides the skybox... but that Yavin skybox will make anything seem like Yavin! In any case, it's something of a layered platform (a low part, a high part, and 'tiers' in between acting as steps) which reminds me of a flattened-out ziggurat.
Take a peek at that Old Yavin Duel level.

 Sedona Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:44 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Lt. Cmdr. Salinga released a deathmatch level for Elite Force that's called Sedona. The map is a conversion of a Quake III: Arena level originally made by redfella.
The atmosphere of this map is that of a mining facility, so it is no surprise that it is a little on the dark side...although, cramped, it is not; This map is very roomy, and depending on the number of players in this map, you may have to do some running about within the confines of Sedona to find yourself a target to shoot at.
Go downgrab Sedona over on Elite Force Files.

Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:55 PM

Phoebus has been busy and has added the Heretic II Review by ReX of Doom Nexus to our Raven-Games site (with ReX's consent of course). If you haven't read it yet, then now would be a good rime to do so as it's well worth the read along with ReX's General Observations.

 Odin Awaits
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:27 AM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

The featured model on Jedi Knight Files is one that is called Odin and is designed by Almighty_gir for Jedi Academy.
Here we've got another Final Fantasy model for the FF fanboys and fangirls out there (myself included). This particular model is Odin as seen in Final Fantasy VIII. The model, which dates back to September 2005 (whoo boy, an oldie!) certainly does look like Odin, and is actually quite beautiful in its own right. It does, however, show some particular errors and weak points (such as the shape of the feet and the shape of the fae) which are very typical of Almighty Gir's early work, which he has since drastically improved upon.
Check out Odin.

 Grab Some Loeb
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:43 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

The featured skin over on Jedi Knight Files is LOEB which was released by Leonardo De Simone.
I'm not sure where the name came from for this skin, but it's certainly a neat skin. It's a reskin of the snowtrooper to make him a knight, and the author seems to have done a pretty good job with it! Enough has been changed so that it's recognizable, but definitely doesn't look like the snowtrooper anymore. The breast plate has been completely changed, and the head has been given some chain mail to protect the neck area.
Check out LOEB!

 The OICW By The Goat
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:50 AM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

The Goats OICW is a weapons skin by The Goat for the OICW.... you never would've guessed that from the title.
I know there are several mods and bot servers who use the oicw, but the original skin needed a bit of tweaking. So heres my version.
What the hell does OICW stand for anyways?

 Creep Into The Mosh Crypt
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:51 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Apparently Chilla-X has released a two map set for Elite Force that contains a CTF and Deathmatch version of the same level, which is called CTF Mosh Crypt.
The feel of these maps are similar to other previous map releases by Chilla-X, the two maps in this download are based off of a Nintendo 64 game Turok2, the basic layout is the same with a few changes troughout, like the use of jumppads where ladders were.
That is all on Elite Force Files.

 Bespin Traps!?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:10 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

lil_binger released a Jedi Academy, multiplayer map that goes by the title Bespin Traps and according to the reviewer you should play the level with the Hydroball mod.
Anyway, I thought the name of this map was silly when I first saw it. I thought to myself "Bespin traps? Bepin trap would sound so much better." I now understand the S on the end. Very simply, there are traps in this map, and if you're clever you can uncover them and hopefully trick your opponents into killing themselves. Handy, eh?
Take a look at that map over on Jedi Knight Files.

 Golden Dragon Chrome
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:37 PM

Fragger released another skin, this time for the shotgun, so take a look at Golden Dragon Chrome for Soldier of Fortune 2.
Fragger never fails to deliver when it comes to skins. Here's another great skin from him for the shotgun. The screenshots are a little on the bright side, But the skin does look proper nice in game.
That skin is available thanks to Soffiles.

 jHexen Diablo Style!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:23 AM
Category: Hexen

skymarshall posted a thread on our Newdoom forums right here that he turned jHexen into more of a diablo-style RPG.
I had a bit of spare time over christmas so decided to turn jHexen into more of a diablo-style RPG game with experience, level-ups and more importantly weapons that get visibly better as you play. Yes, this is a pretty tragic waste of time, but this is my first attempt at C coding outside of work and I'm pretty happy with the results.
You can grab the download from a link in his first post, plus you can view several screenshots. Thanks to Phoebus for pointing this out.

 Hydroball Your HydroDesert2?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:12 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Rock released a Jedi Academy, multiplayer map called HydroDesert2 and according to the reviewer you should play the level with the Hydroball mod.
This map actually has a really nice ambiance. It is set in what seems to be a town in the middle of the desert (Tatooine, anyone?) in the middle of the night. The lighting actually matches the time of day, which is nice. And it's not excessive or too little. There were a couple of instances, mainly inside the hydroball building itself, where I couldn't find a light source for a couple of the light entities, but for the most part the lights did have sources.
Investigate that level over on Jedi Knight Files.

 Deathmatch In Sedona
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:55 AM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Lt. Cmdr. Salinga uploaded Sedona to Elite Force Files. The map designed for Elite Force deathmatch and is designed after a Quake III Arena level.
This map, originally crafted by redfella, and made available to you by Lt. Cmdr. Salinga, after he converted it from it's original 'Quake 3 Arena' state, is a rather large map that contains three levels of frag fest-ness fun! The atmosphere of this map is that of a mining facility, so it is no surprise that it is a little on the dark side...although, cramped, it is not; This map is very roomy, and depending on the number of players in this map, you may have to do some running about within the confines of Sedona to find yourself a target to shoot at.
Go get a copy of Sedona.

 Dragon's Claw Hilt Pack
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:31 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Here is anouther saber hilt mod for Jedi Academy. This particular mod is made by Donut595 and is called Dragon's Claw Hilt Pack.
I like new and innovative hilts. This certainly isn't the first dragon-themed hilt to grace the net, but it's not a copy of anything, either. I've always found dragons inspiring, both for myself and obviously for other people, as the concept of these creatures has spawned some of the most unique and interest mod pieces available. This is no exception.
Get that mod off of Jedi Knight Files.

 CTF Castlewar v4.0
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:56 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Borggamer released version 4.0 of his CTF level, Castlewar.
The overall design of the map remains the same, as the name suggests, it still has the castle feel to it, and the ropes are still there to allow for climbing the walls; This map just has a midevil feel to it, with a you and seven of your gaming buddies, the potential for a frag fest is at your fingertips.
That is all on Elite Force Files.

 Electric Saber Mod
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:24 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

If you like saber mods for Jedi Academy, then maybe this Electric Saber Mod is something worth checking out.
It adds an electric look to the blade itself, and a very cool electricity-ish motion blur. As simple as this mod was created, it turned out really really nifty.
That mod is available thanks to Jedi Knight Files.

 Belfast Arena (Final)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:00 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

Douglas Giovany released a multiplayer level for Soldier of Fortune II that goes by the name Belfast Arena that is slated as being the final version of the map.
In this version of belfast arena a few bugs have been fixed and pickups added for dm/tdm gametypes. The map will host up to 20 players, Download it and see what you think.
Yeah, check it out on Soffiles.

 CTF Level: Ancient Bajor v1.0
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:37 AM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

The level Ancient Bajor (v1.0) is designed for Capture The Flag and is InSaNe8472's second map.
If a balanced map is what you're after, then Ancient Bajor is definately something you want to add to your collection, as the bases are created even, to be sure that no one team has an advantage over the other; This map will come down to a battle of skills, to see who walks away with bragging rights! As this is a large-sized map, be sure to wear some comfortable shoes, as there will be alot of running around as you search out your enemies.
Grab that Ancient Bajor (v1.0) level over on Elite Force Files.

 The Rancor!!!!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:57 PM
Category: General

RockSolid released Ballad of the Rancor which is an mp3 file that has almost no music in it at all.... if you go by what the reviewer says.
This is quite random, and I had a very difficult time figuring out what was going on. I got that Kyle was crazy, Jaden was confused, and there was a mad rancor on the loose and some guy who shouted, no less than three times, "THE RANCOR!"
The RANCOR!

The second version of the goats dark guards. This version is a nice improvement on the first, Definitely worth adding to your skin collection, Good work.

 Multiplayer Level: Mandalorian Fortress
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:38 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Qiutian released his Mandalorian Fortress over on Jedi Knight Files. The map is made for multiplayer and features new music and sounds.
Mandalorian fans will like this map, which is meant to be some kind of Mandalorian base on the planet Mandalore. The area where the map sits initially reminded me a little bit of Dxun, for those who have played KotOR2. Perhaps this is where this author gained some of his inspiration. In any case, I'll agree that the map looking very much Mandalorian in style. It includes what I suspect to be a dueling ring, surrounded by spikes, and a simple platform in the middle of a large chasm.
Take a look at that Mandalorian Fortress.
