Over on map-review.com they mentioned that the sign-ups for or Mapping Challenge 2 has started. The new challenge requires level designers to take a pre-made, shabby level made of boxy rooms into something awesome. For more info, including the rules and whatnot go forth and take a look at the PIMP MY MAP! thread.

 Kenn Talks Zombies
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:38 PM
Category: General

There's a new update on Kenn's World where Kenn posted some stuff about zombie films including the upcoming George A Romero's Land of the Dead:
I have to say, though...based on allusions made in the trailer, the concept of "smart zombies" is much more troubling to me than the "fast zombies" introduced in recent "walking dead" films.
Check out Kenn's World and hopefully we'll see his review for Land Of The Dead once the film comes out.

 Onyx Saber Hilt
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:13 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

I noticed on Jedi Knight Files a Onyx saber hilt by Darth Doughnut.
The skins and models are fine but at times it just doesnt look shiney like a saber, it's too bland. I think with an added shader, his sabers could look even cooler. Never the less, this saber is like that, It could look cooler with a shader. I love the model though it looks great and the slickness is awesome.
Have a look at that Onyx saber hilt that's designed for Jedi Academy.

 The Cage
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:19 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

Here's a Soldier Of Fortune II map that might prove to be some fun if you like small, cramped maps that have little cover.
You start out by being dropped down a hole in the ground into your new steel prison. Take a look straight up if you want to catch your last glimse of the sky before you die. You are given a few seconds to collect a couple of grenades and an uzi, and then it's time to run out through your cell door into the cage and try to survive.
Oops I nearly for got to post the link. Check out The Cage.

Kenn's Thoughts On The 2005 NFL Draft
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:09 PM
Category: General

There's a fresh update on Kenn's World where Kenn posted some thoughts regarding the 2005 NFL Draft.
I scratched my head about the two Wide Receiver picks... Terrence Murphy (2nd) and Craig Bragg (6th) are both speedy receivers with punt and kickoff return abilities. I think that's a good thing, since the Packers' return game has sucked for years.
Tackle Kenn's World for the rest of the info.

 Episode 3 CloneTrooper
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:47 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Neo Exelor released a skin for Elite Force that's a Episode 3 CloneTrooper.
Now this is actually a pretty good skin. It's a shame that it hardly works. Only the default skin works, the blue and red skin do not work. But if you're into holomatch then this skin is for you! Unfortunately there have been no new taunts included. It just uses the default "Harry Kim" taunt.
It looks pretty good from the screenshots so you might want to check out that Episode 3 CloneTrooper.

I noticed on Jedi Knight Files a RSF Sword model by DjMonkey that's designed for Jedi Academy..
It's a nice sword for those who prefer that over a saber.
Have a look at that RSF Sword.

 My GI Joe Went AWOL
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:59 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Ages ago I had a GI Joe and so did my friend who lived next door. We used to throw them around and stuff but I don't ever remember there being any GI Girls back in the day. Still it was good times and whatever happened to my GI Joe is still a mystery. Guess he went AWOL after taking so much damage. Meanwhile, BeakerBongload took a creative hit and made some feminine skins for Jedi Academy in a GI Joe style and that's what this is all about.

 Temple Of The Dragon
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:38 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

This is an older map but whatever... there's a lack of new stuff around so.... Over on Lucas Files there's a Jedi Academy FFA level called Temple of the [Dragon] that looks pretty neat from the screens. It's a tourney level created for the Dragon clan and it may be worth a download so go have a look at it at least.

 Elite Force Echelon v1.2.7
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:32 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Elite Force Echelon (1.2.7) was just released on Elite Force Files which is a popular server query program.
I would like to point out that people who already have the program can easily update via the built in updater. Several bugs have been fixed in this version and some new features have been included. You are now able to query the v0.15 demo since a wiZ master server was installed due to Raven dropping support to the demo years ago. In the options menu you can customize the look of the program by simply change the colours to anything you like. Check the readme for some of the background bug fixes.
Check out that Elite Force Echelon (1.2.7) jobby.

 Kenn's Guide To Chick Flicks
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:44 PM
Category: General

There's a new update on Kenn's World as Mr. Hoekstra posted up a new article called: Chick Flicks: A Man's Guide To Watching Movies With Your Better Half.
The Cutting Edge - A hockey player can't play anymore, so he has to become a figure skater (the horror!!!) and is partnered with the bitchiest woman on the planet. Shall I go on? If you want to watch a film about a struggling hockey player, see if you can get her to watch Happy Gilmore. =)
He also posted up his Favorite Historical and Literary Quotes so check that out too.

 New Quake 4 Screenshot Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:56 AM
Category: Quake IV

I was just visiting Blues News when I noticed Activision has released a new screenshot for Quake 4, plus some details on the game itself.
Earth is under siege by an alien race. The Strogg are cybernetic warriors--a mechanical frame and decaying body parts stabilized by flesh consumed in a systematic annihilation of other species and civilizations. In a desperate attempt to survive a Strogg attack on Earth, an armada of Earth's finest warriors is sent to take the battle to the Strogg home planet. Earth's initial assault force is nearly annihilated immediately, but one marine manages to infiltrate the base, bring down their planetary defense systems, and kill the Strogg's collective brain and leader--the Makron. Earth assumed the destruction of the Makron would end it all, but it didn't.That's where Quake II leaves off and Quake 4 begins. The Strogg are quickly regrouping. However, with the Strogg's planetary defenses still destroyed, Earth's forces can deliver a full and final assault. This time, you're not alone. You are Matthew Kane, an elite member of Rhino Squad, and part of Earth's next invasion wave. An army of soldiers are fighting with you and an arsenal of weapons and vehicles are at your disposal in this heroic and epic battle between worlds."
Hit this linkage for the hi-res screenshot (4000 x 3000) and if that's a bit too big for you, check out a smaller version on Gamespot (1024 x 768).

 Kengo Interview On Map-Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:57 PM
Category: General

Over on map-review.com I noticed that they posted that it's almost thier 2nd anniversary and lassev went and did up an interview with site co-founder, Kengo.
engo:I like the idea of having other characters on your side to help you out - it adds in other gaming elements and choices, like protecting them or letting them take on the tougher enemies while you stand back and laugh/cower. I was disappointed that NPCs that helped you were pretty rare in Jedi Outcast, and I loved it when they were involved. I really enjoyed using the saber in Jedi Outcast - I guess it's the one obvious standout that makes it unique from other action titles around at the time.
Check out that particular interview that's a part of the 2nd anniversary content. More to come... or so they say.

 STRP Base
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:13 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Elite Force Files has an RPG map called STRP Base that requires the Poseidon A for the texture resource.
You spawn at the back compartment of the Deltaflyer. Use the transporter in the center to beam you down to the surface. The player will materialize in a crashed Danube class shuttle which is somewhat stuck in a rock. There's really only one way to go and that's the bridge. At the end of the bridge there is some kind of a prison complex. The prison cells are at the back of the complex and some building are placed inside the complex. Use the ladder to get to the upper level. There's not much to do there aside from making the front door open/close with a button.
Have a look at that STRP Base level if your into the RPG type of maps.

Furthermore there's some screens of the models and the Kamya Dojo!! level. Also the team is in need of a new animator to help out. Check out Rurouni Kenshin: Redemption.

 DY-100 Advance
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:58 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

I see that Gigon released anouther map on Elite Force Files. The new level is called DY-100 Advance.
This map takes place on the S.S. Ironman spaceship. Roam around the corridors and you'll see a lot of cool stuff. There are some usable consoles and other little goodies. Some of the consoles activate stuff like a bridge which you can use to get to the little spaceship which is docked. The engineering section is a hazardous area. It's filled with lethal radiation which will slowly but surely put an end to your misery. The cannon on top actually rotates.
The map is a Deathmatch level and looks pretty neat from the six available screenies. Check out DY-100 Advance.

 The Argas Effect Act 1
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:24 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

I just noticed on the Space Station K7 site where HorckDude announced the release The Argas Effect Act 1, a single player mod for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force.
Now, before you start playing there is a suggestion I want to make to help you in the mod: this isn't just another dumb shooting game. You play the Captain of the Starship Enterprise and while on that ship you are expected to know your way around. Therefore, you will not be helped in reaching your objectives. You have to use your common sense and knowledge of TOS to get through it.
Beam on over to Space Station K7 and get that downgrabbed.

 Sin City
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:35 PM
Category: General

Sounds like anouther Jedi Academy level, doesn't it? Anyhow that's not the case because there's a new update on Kenn's World as Kenn Hoekstra has gone to see the movie Sin City and has since come back to tell us a little about it.
It's dark...gritty...funny...and most of all, ultra violent.
Have a look at Kenn's World.

 Ultimate Voy Maps
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:46 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Ultimate Voy Maps by Johan are spiffy new, made from scratch versions of the original voy1 and voy2 that Raven made.
Both maps have a really dashing look. Everything has been built completely from scratch and are designed to represent the original maps. Check out the screenshots and you'll know what I mean. You'll notice there is a lot more open space for you to lame around. Might create opportunity for some action.
Hit Elite Force Files and have a look at those Ultimate Voy Maps.

Quake IV To Appear At QuakeCon X
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:49 PM
Category: Quake IV

Yay some Quake IV news to post about!!! Woot! Over on Gamespot they mentioned that Todd Hollenshead of id Software confirmed the fact that Quake IV will appear at QuakeCon X. This info is from id staffers being at a Game Rush store to promote thier April 4th release of both Resurrection of Evil (Doom 3 expansion) and Doom 3 on Xbox. Here is the bit about Quake IV:
Hollenshead also teased the crowd with information about the upcoming QuakeCon, the annual id-sponsored frag-fest scheduled for this August 11 to 14 in Dallas. Namely, he revealed that the next installment in the conference's titular franchise will indeed be on hand, a fact omitted from last month's official lineup announcement. "We'll have Quake IV multiplayer to play," he said "And because it's also the 10-year anniversary of QuakeCon, we'll have a few other surprises as well."
So this is exciting news and I look forward to hearing more about Quake IV at Quakecon X. You can read the full article right here.

 Mmmm Mariana
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:33 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Hey it's not what you think... Mariana is a map developed by Gigon that's made for CTF in Elite Force.
The cathedral of Mariana is nothing short of a eyecandy. Every texture is high quality and it looks great. The blue base is located at the surface and the red one below the surface. A transporter is the only way to travel between the 2 bases.
Have a look at that Mariana level.

Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children Mod
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 5:16 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

I noticed on Jedi Knight Files a Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children Mod that contains a redesign of all the Jedi Academy menu screens and a weapons pack that contains a large number of new weapons. The reviewer sayeth:
It has a huge number of well modelled and skinned weapons, with the most famous ones such as Cloud's buster sword and Sephiroth's masamune being exceptionally detailed. Some new saber trails and slash effects seen from the preview trailers are also included, and coupled with the new sounds they look very snazzy.
Take a look and or download that Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children Mod.
