Chaos Force Mod v2: Ultimate Combat

Check out Chaos Force Mod v2: Ultimate combat which adds new saber moves (some moves based on the episode3 game for ps2 and Xbox)to Jedi Academy. When I loaded this mod up in JKA and tried it out, I was amazed at the quality of all the new moves and animations. It looks like the author has really put a lot of effort into getting them just right. It was great fun playing around with all the new saber moves, one of my favourites was the ‘twirling your Lightsaber behind your back’ move that Anakin performs. It looked great, and I’m sure new moves like that would make duels much more interesting! The mod can be used in both singleplayer and multiplayer modes. That's all on Jedi Knight Files.

Multi Storey Car Park

Check out this Multi Storey Car Park level for Soldier Of Fortune 2. The level supports DM, TDM, CTF, INFI gametypes and features 4 floors and an outside area. Each floor of the car park has plenty of vehicles on them so cover is not a problem, CTF is good fun also with the flags on the top and bottom floor. Aceess to the roof can be gained from ladders outside or staris and ramps inside. The lighting is good also with some nice effects. Testing the map I found a few textures errors, however this will not spoil the game play at all. That's all on Soffiles.

Here is a mod that reskins the menus and start-up screens in Jedi Academy to a bounty hunter theme.Wow! Another cool mod! I really like this. It changes the start-up screens, and menus to a "Bounty Hunter" style. My only gripe is that the "Custom Character" button thing isn't blended in very well. And I don't know what mod that is that the author used for the Mandalorians. This is great, if you're looking for a change, try this. Bounty Hunter Reskin v1.0 is available on Jedi Knight Files.

Escape: Yavin IV - The Lost Maps

Check out Escape: Yavin IV - The Lost Maps which is a single player conversion mod for Jedi Academy and is something of a sequel to the Escape: Yavin IV" total conversion (ummm the reviewer said that sequel stuff then said it's more of a replacement...oooh k).Well, saying it's a sequel may not be completely accurate. It's really something of a replacement - a totally new story, twenty-five new levels, and plenty of new content to choose from. As it's very very long, I tested the first level fully, and will leave the rest to you. However even just from the first level I can tell the quality is way up there. The puzzles are difficult, the levels, even on the easiest setting, are challenging, and the cutscenes are very good. The voice acting could have used a little work, mostly in just the sound quality area (a lot of the voice actors just seemed a smidge too close to their microphones), but the feeling of the characters comes across well enough. That be on Jedi Knight Files.

Over on PC Gamemods Crix released a Jan reskin for Jedi Academy. This is a redoing of Jzzl's excellent Jan_Restyled. I added some shaders, textures, and took off all the markings and text. Hope you like it, I sure do. I hope it makes Jan look a lot more 'sexy' for all of you. Includes many different skins, red and blue skins and some crazy 'other stuff' as well. Check that out right here.

Good to be used like map of clan or RPG! Yeah PC Gamemods!

Jedi Temple Battle Map

One of the featured maps over on Jedi Knight Files is Jedi Temple Battle Map which is a FFA level designed by CaptainM.The reviewer sayeth:Based on the Jedi temple from the new Star Wars trilogy, CaptainM's map attempts to recreate famous and popular areas from the film, and is successful to a certain extent. There are parts of this map that I really like, and then there are parts which I really don't like. As a gameplay map, this certainly doesn't have the best layout, and the framerate is far from good, but it is acceptable. Check that out on Jedi Knight Files.

Check out Cobalt on Quake 4 Files. The map is designed for Quake 4, deathmatch by wviperw.Created for the FragArcade contest. A throwback to the old days of traps and LAVA! Hot burning LAVA! The layout was inspired by Q2DM3 and like Q2DM3 you'll find a "frag pipe" in this map. To use the lovely frag pipe, simply press any one of the 3 green buttons that appear in the level and watch as hilarity ensues. Grab some Cobalt.

[SJO] Training is a Jedi Academy, FFA, clan map, minus all the clan logos and stuff. The layout of the map isn’t too bad, there’s everything here that you would expect from a clan map, a Council Room, Dueling Rooms and a Bar too, among other things. Probably my favourite area was the Jail and Rancor Pit though. The jail consists of some glass cells (toughened glass I hope!) that you can keep your prisoners in. But there’s also a big view screen on the wall where you can actually see what’s happening in the Rancor Pit! There’s also a handy button to spawn a Rancor on the wall too. That is all on Jedi Knight Files.

Checkin' Out The Cloud City

Cloud City is a FFA level made by LivingDeadJedi which is designed for Jedi Academy.I reckon everyone who has seen the original trilogy will remember cloud city, and anybody who even vaguely remembers JK2 will recognise some of the texture themes and style in this map. You’ll find a fair few places of recognition when you explore around; I think the most noticeable area for me was that dining room where Han has his little spat with Vader, but there are also the classic landing pads and curved corridors. However, this is definitely a role-playing map, as the layout doesn’t really allow for a proper-FFA - it has too many corridors going off in all different directions, and you have to traverse a fairly long distance to get between areas. That is all on Jedi Knight Files.

Take a trip over to Jedi Knight Files and downgrab Bespin Floor, which is a Jedi Academy map made for multiplayer gameplay.I was relatively glad this Bespin map was set indoors. As a result it doesn't look like the "typical" Bespin map. Yay! It's small, and as the author says it's designed for two people, and I find that it is a good size. Almost spacious for two people, which is likely to be a good thing for duelists. Plenty of elbow room. There are a couple of side rooms off the main room which have bacta cannisters and shield boosters - one on each side of the map. On each side there is also an area behind a door - I am assuming both are the spawn points, as I didn't spawn myself more than once to check. That's all on Jedi Knight Files.

Check out Territorial Dispute which is a Quake 4, multiplayer map by b0rg.Territorial Dispute comprises 3 main areas – 1 large arena and 2 split-level atriums that are connected to the arena via a network of tunnels, teleports and launchpads. The central arena is where most of the health powerups are located, which makes it a good location to try and lockdown. That’s easier said than done, however, because opponents can appear from any angle. That is on Quake 4 Files.

Salute Your Host

Stephen Howe released a deathmatch level called Salute Your Host for Quake 4. This is a level set in a relatively (for Quake 4 MP levels) dark power core. I reallylove how the Doom 3 engine handles light & wanted to design a darker level, with shadows of course. I recommend setting r_lightdetaillevel to 0. There's only a few (6, 7?) lights in the map that are for decoration but you will have almost no performance hit with them on. There should be no solid black areas at all in the level, so if there is your gamma/brightness may be fubar'ed (I set mine to the default levels & I think it looks good). That is all on Quake 4 Files.

PlanetQuake4 posted up an Interview with SyncError who is id Software's new community liaison. The feedback and participation from the community following the Quake 4 1.1 Beta Patch has been outstanding. With the vast majority of the suggestions being valid bug fixes there has been little need to do any sorting. Every suggestion that comes my way is organized into spreadsheets categorizing them as legacy bugs, new 1.1 beta bugs or community requested features. All items on the list are then discussed between myself, the company owners, designers and coders. Only recently this week have we began receiving large demands for features that are still often debated within the community itself. These features must be carefully considered by the community before we can seriously evaluate them. Check out that Interview with SyncError.
