I was looking around for Quake 4 mods when I spotted Hardqore (site requires Macromedia Flash). Here is what the mod is all about:The Quake 4: HardQore modification brings classic, fast paced, thumb blistering side scrolling action to the next generation. Forget thinking, plots, ammo, or boring puzzles, this is 110% non stop in your face run n' gun slaughter. Strap on advanced weaponry and take on the Strogg invasion or get personal and tare your enemies to shreds with melee combat. Battle alone or go online and fight with up to 3 other players in co-op mode. If your a fan of classic action games such as Contra & Metal Slug; then HardQore is what you have been waiting for. The fast paced action of Quake just became more intense. Currently they're looking for some help in the form of modellers, mappers and want anouther coder as well. By the way this is thier new site and have some new in-game shots, concept art, wallpaper and desktop icons plus some other stuffs. Check out Hardqore!

Relatively Perfect Sabers

Depending on whether you like rounded or pointed saber tips you can now have a choice if you happen to go forth and downgrab Relatively Perfect Sabers by mod designer Grudge_patient for Jedi Academy.I'm glad someone finally decided to make a saber blade mod that doesn't claim to be absolutely perfect. As this author realizes, perfection is all relative to the viewer. Kind of like the statement "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" - everyone has different tastes, and it doesn't help when the movies themselves are contradictory to what the blade core should look like. That is all on Jedi Knight Files.

Quake IV v1.1 Beta Patch Released

Category: Quake IV |
The official Quake IV v1.1 Beta Patch is now available which weighs in at 60mb.This update will bring any previous version of the game completely up to date, however it will affect pure server and protocol consistency. Therefore, players who update to 1.1 BETA will only be able to play multiplayer against other 1.1 BETA users, and save games created on previous versions of the game will not be compatible with the 1.1 BETA update. Please use the form at www.idsoftware.com/bugs/ to report any issues you find with the 1.1 BETA update. Once we are satisfied the 1.1 BETA is completely solid, we will release the FINAL 1.1 update. This will be a required update and will be available through the “Update” option in the game. With that release, we’ll also be including 4 all-new multiplayer maps in addition to the QUAKEMAS map pack (3 maps) that was released in December. We are currently working with the mod team community to deliver the 1.1 SDK and bring their mods current as soon as possible. Lastly, stay tuned in the coming months for additional free game content including new maps and gametypes. You can grab the download off of Worthplaying, 3D Gamers, Gamers Hell and FileShack.

There's a CTF map called Rift Mines over on PC Gamemods that is designed by level designer acdcfanbill for Jedi Academy.A level using the rift textureset plus some others and some customs. I intended this to look good, while still providing the competitive players with a map that is suited for competitive play. It certainly looks interesting from the screenshots...

I usually look for new maps when looking for Soldier Of Fortune (I or II) news but these Fireball Flags certainly look interesting and should add a little flair to your CTF games....Basicly what it is, is a transparent flag with a spinning fire ball on it. It looks really nifty and I havn't seen one of these on soffiles yet. I made these because I hated the flags always blocking you from seeing where your enemies are in kam2. While making these I thought why not add some cool effects. Thus I got the spinning fireballs. Check out those Fireball Flags.

You can find Duel Of Faith over on Jedi Knight Files which is a Duel map for Jedi Academy. You'll find everything you come to expect from temple maps here - glowing torches with fire, yellowy brick walls, statues. It's all a bit old, but it's not done too badly. The lighting is average, for want of a better word, albeit a little too orangey. Check out Duel Of Faith.

Doc Phil released a Jedi Academy mod called HS Jedi Customization (v4.0) which is a skin pack.In case any of the other dozens of prequel Jedi skins, packs, and customizations weren't enough to whet your appetite, here we have another. Boasting many heads and torsos, this pack includes both a "knight" version and a "padawan" version. I find the variations provided here a bit boring, however. You get one style, then color variations of it. Nothing is added as in some other packs, there is nothing "exciting" about them, unless you really like having different colors of the same thing. Jedi Knight Files has the Jedi goods.

If you fancy camping, you're going to like this one for sure. There are several gametypes supported, but DM will be the best gametype I think. That is all on Soffiles.

Steveo released anouther Quake 4 map which can be found on Map Factory. The level is called No Remorse and is made for CTF gameplay. No Remorse first began when I was just messing around trying something new. To me the map has a little bit of a old style layout and a little new style mixed in. with every new map I make I try to make it better than the last, This map is probably my favorite map I´ve made so far. Please note that you do need the official Quake 4 Quakemas Map pack installed for this map to work because I used some textures, colorable bounce pads, and weapon spawn bases that are included with it. Also I have included aas files with this one for bot support. Check out No Remorse.

Over on Quake 4 Files I noticed a spiffy looking singleplayer level is called Cold Steel and is designed by eLuSiVe. Here is a bit of text from the description:Ice cold steel and dark corridors - that's how our leadmapper Elusive's side project of the same name presents itself: "Cold Steel". You may look forward to solid brushwork, well placed weapons, as well as a whole army of nasty Strogg, who arm themselves in neat cutscenes to show you what they've got. Finally our members Mantikor, Dreyseth and Waran helped completing the singleplayer map with custom-textures, -models and -sounds. You can grab Cold Steel here and start in your digital crusade against the Strogg right away. That is all on Quake 4 Files. Maybe now would be a good time to get some Cold Steel...

Mars Marshall released anouther spiffy model for jedi Academy. This one is Delta CommandosVM and here is a bit of what the reviewer had to say:How long have I heard people talking about a Republic Commando model? Ages and ages, at least. Here we have one, finally. I am starting to wonder how Mars manages to put any quality into his models, as he seems to be pumping models out one a week, but somehow he does manage it, and we can all be thankful for that. However the map is an original design by --==Steveo==-- who made the level for the Via and Doom 3 World, Quake 4 mapping contest. Check out Endurance and get into some 1 on 1 duel games!

I guess if you found Quake 4 to be a bit dark you could check out this Ambient Light Mod that is downgrabable off of Quake 4 Files. With the mod becomes from the flashlight a ambientlight by which the immediate area is illuminated around the play figure. The flashlight sits on every weapon, but can be switched on and off only with the blaster or the machinegun. When I first saw the screenies I thought this was a Doom 3 mod as I don't recall Quake 4 being that dark...

KaNe released a Soldier Of Fortune 2, multiplayer map that is called DSC Castle. A nice map which is set in a castle. It's a shame we don't have many of these since it's a great theme, I think. The layout of the map is quite simple, a big indoors map with many rooms and places. It's really nice to play this map with pickups enabled since the map is has a great layout for it. That is all on Soffiles.

MagnaGuardVM Model

Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy |
Mars Marshall released MagnaGuardVM which is a model for Jedi Academy. Here is a bit of what the reviewer had to say:A lot of detail went into this model in terms of skinned on parts versus modeled on parts. That is immediately noticible. The skin also seems relatively accurate, depending on which pictures you look at. Some pictures I saw looked blue, as this does, and some didn't, but that could be due to lighting. I did find some areas of the skin to look a bit strange, as if Mars had used the sponge filter on it, which he may have. However overall the textures look very good when the entire model is taken into account. That's all on Jedi Knight Files.
