 XMas Mod
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:35 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Noctem Productions released a Christmas mod for Elite Force that is called XMas Mod and if you hurry you can get it before the New Year arrives and it becomes irrelevant.
This small mod changes and adds on a few things to normal MP, all with a Christmas theme! big grin First up, there are two new CTF maps, both set in hill top fields covered with snow! Although the fields are square, and have little cover, the mounds and trees provide a decent enough challenge to get to the enemy flag. The two maps are the same, except one is at night and the other during daytime.
Too bad I didn't notice this until now... Oh well... ho ho ho..

 Christmas Skin Pack
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:11 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Whether you want more Christmas right now is up to you, so here is a The Christmas "FUN" Skin Pack for Jedi Academy.
The pack includes: Father Jawa, Santa Rax, Santa's Helper, and Santa's Fashion Designer. As you might have guessed these are all pretty simple recolors -- mostly red and white, although the helper is red, green, and white.
Get that off of Jedi Knight Files.

 Booms Admin Menu
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:52 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune

Booms Admin Menu was released by for_the_buzz and is some kind of voting menu. Yeah..... ummmmm..... lets look at the readme....
An ingame dropdown menu that enables ingame commands. Example instead of having to type commands in console the ingame menu enables lot of the most common commands like pause, lock, swap etc.
Can I use that thing to vote for another Heretic game from Raven or at least some sort of FANTASY based game.... I tire of all these damned guns. Anyhow the mod is for both Soldier of Fortune I and II. The rest is up to you. I go now to eat an orange.... how exciting!

 Starfighter Command
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:28 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Starfighter Command is a map for Elite Force and is one of those RPG jobbys. Ignore the bit about Christmas in the quote... hah:
As Christmas approaches, SciSeven has released a new roleplaying level, this time set on a Federation Gamma Quadrant space station. Starfighter Command is a medium sized map with a small number of decks that include a command center, crew quarters, transporter, sickbay and all the other standard RP locations, but also, an extensive shuttlebay facility with many shuttles and operational bay doors.
Yeah Elite Force Files.

 Yavin Christmas!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:54 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

If your a Jedi then maybe now would be a good time to have yourself a Yavin Christmas (CTF map) all thanks to Robocop.
The Yavin CTF map was always one of my favorite maps during my very short JK2 stint. It's got great areas and is quite good for gameplay. Picture it. Yeees, it's coming baaack to you. Now forget that Yavin IV is a tropical jungle and picture it if The Day After Tomorrow hit and everything froze over. Yeeees... Snowy. Icy. Christmasy. You got it! Snowmen, twinkly lights, ice slicks, and lots of snow make Yavin IV the new hip holiday hangout! Boy, say that five times fast.
Check that out on Jedi Knight Files.

 Venus Sith Apprentice V2
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 4:16 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Wow it's like almost Christmas already! Go hit Jedi Knight Files where GG|Axl_GNR_Rose released a Jedi Academy skin that is called Venus Sith Apprentice V2.
Well here we have a rather interesting reskin of the Major Kusanagi model by Graves. Venus is according to the author she is a descendent from an ancient humanoid species called the Vertigans, who apparently have an insane ability to harness the dark side. And unlike the Sith, they did manage their empire with respect to the emperor and not killed each other like most Sith did. But they were destroyed by the jedi and one of the only surivors was this girl.
Have a look at Venus Sith Apprentice V2.

 Battle Facility
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 3:23 PM
Category: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast

Here is a map for Jedi Outcast by Sir_Ryan that goes by the name Battle Facility and is geared up for Free For All.
This is a big area with a duel pad in the middle to which you can get to through some bridges connected to each other from sides of the room. There's a water canal dividing the room into two. The simplicity of it judging from the screenshots is very self explanatory but it indeed is a big place and could really hold a good FFA or TFFA.
Download some Battle Facility over on Jedi Knight Files.

 Murphy's Marines v1.2
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:29 PM
Category: Quake IV

Murph released a version 1.2 patch for his Murphy's Marines mod for Quake 4.
This update patch fixes spawn-in problems found with the original release of Murphy's Marines : Console Commandos v1.0 and also the second release of Murphy's Marines : Console Commandos v1.1 as well. Both will be upgraded to version 1.2. Basically two typo errors in "Console Commands Txt." hinder spawn-in for two marines in both versions. Version 1.1 only requires one file swap to complete the upgrade. Version 1.0 will require two mod files to swap, but I've included all the files you will need to upgrade to v1.2. None of the upgrades should cause any trouble with any previous settings or game saves.
That is all on Quake 4 Files.

Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 5:36 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

Over on Soffiles there is a multiplayer level by }Crazy{ Rush that is called Cod Carentan.
A well made cod style map. It has a nice feel to it as it is kind of open yet it has a lot of cover at the same time.
Get some Cod Carentan!

Zoom In On Those Saber Hilts
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:30 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Here is a simple mod that allows you to magnify your saber hilt ingame so you can see the deatil better.
What this does is give you a magnified look at the saber making it bigger in the menu. This does not affect however the ingame saber. Maybe some of you will appreciate it, I know I do because I can see the detail on the ingame sabers much better.
Check out Saber Magnify MP and SP V2 over on Jedi Knight Files.

 Shade Your Quake
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:18 PM
Category: Quake IV

Quake 4 Relief Extreme Shaders v1.4 is a mod designed by Dafama2K7 that tweaks the shaders.... well I guess that should be obvious (the bit about the shaders).
At the moment this mod only supports NVidia gfx cards or latest ATI gfx cards that are able to supports OpenGL32 v3.0 shaders, with at least DirectX v9.0c hardware support, but there will be a low-end version for old ATI gfx cards that only supports upto v2.0 shaders soon !
So if you like to beef up your Quake 4 shaders, then maybe check this thing out over on Quake 4 Files.

 Barn Is Based On Barn
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:06 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

BBbarnV5 is a Elimination map for Soldier of Fortune 2 and is based on Barn but looks more like a warehouse. I'm going by what the review person said... so make up your own mind, if you decide to download. Anyhow jump onto Soffiles if you want to check it out.

 Superiority Complex
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 4:32 PM
Category: Quake IV

Superiority Complex is a Quake 4 map that RuckusQ4 designed for deathmatch and was constructed for a Via/Doom3world.org level design contest. That's all I know about the whole thing because no other info was posted. Quake 4 Files got the goods.

 Heretic & Heretic 2 Reviews
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:13 AM
Category: Heretic

Phoebus was digging around the allgame site and found a review for Heretic and one for Heretic II as well.
For those familiar with the original Heretic, the changeover to a third person perspective may come as a surprise. Powered by the distinctive Quake II engine, Heretic II is a continuation of the deep story line introduced in Heretic.
That stuff is on allgame. I certainly didn't see these reviews before and maybe you haven't either.

Ogle: The Return Of Morcalavin Update
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 5:29 PM
Category: Heretic II

9LegYak posted on the forum right here that he is still working on his singleplayer Heretic 2 mod.
I want to remind everyone that my SP add-on is still in the works. A considerable amount of work has gone into it thus far, so it's beyond the point of "never-being-released." It's still less than 1/3 completed, but it's the only project on my plate at this point. (I always have to have a "project" in the background.)
His plan is to announce a release date sometime next year. Also hit 9LegYak's Heretic II Abode for more info.

 Tranquility Valley
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:56 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Skulk on over to Jedi Knight Files and take a look at Tranquility Valley, which is a multiplayer map and here is a snip of what Inyri had to say about it all.
Now these are the kinds of maps I like -- out doors, trees, ruins, fire... Maybe I just play too many medieval RPG's. In any case, this map seems to be a valley, as the title suggests, and it has some ruins and what look like tombs.
There's more to be said about Tranquility Valley so head on over there, read more, check on the screenshots and the decide to downgrab or not.

 Hangar 19
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:33 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Gigon is back with the release of Hangar 19, which is a multiplayer map made for Elite Force.
Set within a futuristic space port; Hangar19 sees you fragging your friends within this interesting environment, which I must say reminded me of an older game called "Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter." The map itself comes with custom textures, models and numerous other features, as well as a sound track that was very unique and suited the map perfectly.
That is all on Elite Force Files.

I was thinking that maybe you should hit Quake 4 Files because EnforcerQ4 uploaded his Space Hearts level that is designed for Quake 4 and is one of those space / void maps for deathmatching.

The Jedi Enclave on Dantooine (v2)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 5:40 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Over on Jedi Knight Files you can downgrab a level smoke released that goes by the name The Jedi Enclave on Dantooine (v2).
It seems the enclave has gotten a visual overhaul. Smoke decided that the original wasn't up to his current skill level, so he spruced it up a bit. Personally I'd say the biggest improvement (and he may disagree with me on this) is the lighting -- it makes me personally more able to enjoy the rest of the wonderful changes. Second place goes to the doors. I'm not even going to tell you about them -- just go open one and find out. You'll like it.
That map is available over on Jedi Knight Files.

 Deathmatch In The Sky
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:22 PM
Category: Quake IV

Sky Tourney is a deathmatch level for Quake 4 that SkyStalker put together, which has a green metal theme going on.
A nice change of pace from the abundance amount of rusty maps we have been getting in lately. This is .. well ... green. Sky Tourney is meant for a small amount of players and keep the combat close and in your face.
Check out some Sky Tourney over on Quake 4 Files.

 Assimilated Poseidon-B
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:54 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Ferengi released a RPG map for Elite Force that goes by the name Assimilated Poseidon-B.
This great roleplaying map, based on the well-known RPG Poseidon B (shipped with RPG-X 2.0), has a very Borg atmosphere to it and almost every area of the ship has been assimilated and re-arranged to suit the needs of the collective.
Check out the Assimilated Poseidon-B over on Elite Force Files.

 Siberia Highly Flammable
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 4:34 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

Ok back to the olde 'here is a map' on such n such a filefront site routine. Douglas Giovany released a level that is named Siberia Highly Flammable and is made for Soldier of Fortune 2.
A stunning map from FastBack. It has a Kam look and feel to it and is very well made. It supports 24 players and this one will do well on servers. Like Kam it is a bit confusing at first but you soon get used to the lay out.
So get some Siberia Highly Flammable. That kinda sounds like some kind of Russian booze.

No Maps Today! Massassi Holiday Contest!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:45 PM
Category: General

I found a bunch of Raven related bookmarks I thought I had lost.... weeeeeee! I was actually trying to find the SpaceStation K7 site because I haven't been on it in ages and couldn't remember the name, so I found all these links. Unfortunately they (the K7 site that is) haven't updated since February. Quite a few of the places I had in the folder have since folded up, so that sucks as well. Anyhow I noticed that Massassi Temple is having a Massassi Holiday Logo Contest.
Throughout the month of December, we'll be running the holiday logo contest. Feel free to send in your own Star Wars-themed holiday logos, any religion is alright as long as it's festive!
So if you happen to be interested be sure to read the rules.

 Cauterize
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:31 PM

Over on Map Factory level designer GMFattay uploaded a deathmatch level for Quake 4 that is called Cauterize. Unfortunately there is no other info about the level on there but it does look pretty good if you view the single screenshot. If you play the level, don't fall in the lava....

Lets visit Jedi Knight Files to check out Ravager Duel for Jedi Academy.
Fans of the Knights of the Old Republic series should instantly recognize this map as the derelict flagship of the Sith Lord Darth Nihilus from Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords. For fans worried about accuracy, you shouldn't be disappointed.
That map is available thanks to Jedi Knight Files.

 Poprocks
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:07 PM
Category: Quake IV

Here is a deathmatch level for Quake 4 that is called Poprocks.
BJA has done it again with another fantastic looking map. This is meant for small amount of players without getting out of control, but then again, some of us like that.
Now would be a good time for some Poprocks thanks to Quake 4 Files.
