 Waterzone4 Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:35 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Wade released Waterzone4 for Elite Force over on Elite Force Files. The level is a CTF map and I guess this explains it all:
I'm a huge fan of Waterzone2 now, used to hate the damn thing. Reason I love it so much is the mine jumping you can do in Specialties and so with that in mind I wanted to make a slightly different version. This version has a higher ceiling (so mine jumping doesn't necessarily meanhitting the sky) and an alternative route from base to base. Besides those 2 things, all other changes are in the style of the map such as rougher terrain, lightmapped water, softer lightingand so on.
Check out Waterzone4.

Starbase 11 Mod Releases Preview Maps
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:38 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

I spotted over on Totally Elite Force that severe! had posted the info that Laz has released two maps as previews for his Starbase 11 mod for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force. The links for the levels are on Totally Elite Force and I haven't been able to find them on the Starbase 11 site yet. Here is a quote from the site, explaining what the mod is about:
Starbase 11 was seen in two TOS episodes, "Courtmartial" and "The Menagerie", and most of the areas seen in those episodes have been recreated for this mod. The mod goes beyond what was seen on television, however, and new areas have been designed and built to create all the facilities one would expect to find at a starbase. The mod is divided into two main sections: the planetside base; and an orbital facility. Each section includes maps of several areas, and there are hubs from which you can travel back and forth between maps.
So anyhow get the files by visiting Totally Elite Force and hit that Starbase 11 site for more info on the mod and a ton of screenshots.

Quake IV (Looking Ahead To 2005)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:04 PM
Category: Quake IV

Way over on Games Domain they have an article called Looking Ahead To 2005. At the top of the article is a section for the upcoming Quake IV. Here is a quote dealie:
After destroying the Strogg's collective brain and leader -- the Makron -- the Strogg have quickly regrouped under a new and more powerful Makron. However, with the Strogg's planetary defenses still destroyed, Earth's forces can deliver a full and final assault. This time you're not alone. An army of soldiers are fighting with you and an arsenal of weapons and vehicles are at your disposal. Quake IV delivers you deeper into the heart of Stroggos.
Also theres 2 sparkly looking, kick-ass screenshots to check out so I suggest you get your marine butt over there and start Looking Ahead To 2005! Methinks Quake IV is going to rock.

 The North Pole!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:45 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

The North Pole is a level designed by Mongo for Jedi Academy, Free For All. Here is a quote from what the reviewer had to say:
You'll find a real sleigh, a WORKING sleigh to drive around the map, a train circling the small town below, smiling snowmen and even a toy shop and a stable full of reindeer. Santa sits in a chair, smoking his pipe, flanked by huge candy canes and cheery wallpaper all around. The most surprising discovery in this map was the duel pad high and far back in the map. It seems a bit out of place. But all in all, this is definitely my favorite Christmas map. Great work, Mongo.
So go grab The North Pole and have a very Merry Christmas!

 Crash On Tatooine
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:24 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Crash On Tatooine is a Jedi Academy Single Player map that weighs in at 9.09 MB and was designed by Mercenary. Lucas Files has the map all set for download. It's hard to tell much from the six avaialble screenshots but here is the link for checking it out. I'm gonna downgrab this myself as I'm replaying the official Jedi Academy Single Player levels at the moment and its definitely entertaining.... so a few user made maps should help eliminate the boredom and the displeasure of buying that crappy Demon Stone (PC) and it's crappy controls...bleagh. Oh well, I'm starting to ramble but I sure hope Raven makes anouther Jedi Knight game.... :)

 Matt-Liell's Pit Droid Model
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:44 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Matt-Liell made a Pit Droid model for Jedi Academy. Here is some of what the reviewer had to say about it:
It has NPC Support, which made me real happy. The model was nicely done, and looks really realistic. It doesn’t have Team or Bot Support. I can kind of understand why there would be no team support, who wouldn’t want a red or blue pit droid? I wish there was Bot Support, but I can live without that. The thing that made me real unhappy, was the new sounds. I love the new sounds, they sound so realistic. I listened to them by opening up the .PK3 and extracting them. I couldn’t wait to test them out. Well, they didn’t work. It was so annoying have a pit droid sound like Kyle.
So even though the new sounds don't work and there's no Bot support, it still looks pretty neat. Should still be worth a downgrab and hopefully Matt-Liell will release an updated version with at least the sounds fixed up. Grab that file right here that's on Jedi Knight Files.

XboX Rules In Favor Of X-Men Legends
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:28 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

Way over on the XboX Rules site I spotted a review for Raven's X-Men Legends. Here is a very small but 'says it all' kinda quote jobby:
This game has it all and you will be playing it for days.
Sounds good to me but I don't have an XboX. If you do have an XboX then maybe you should at least check out X-Men Legends. I wonder what Raven is doing now, besides the elusive and quiet Quake IV.... I would be surprised if the didn't do anouther X-Men title. I guess only time will tell.

 The Giants House
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:04 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

ZemoR made a Jedi Academy level called The Giant's House which is in the tradition of everything being super-sized in the map. I think the first map to be made like this was done up for the game Sin if my memory is right... but anyways, this one contains a hamster cage, a computer desk, chairs and even large copies of the Jedi game boxes. You can check out the screenshots and get the download right here thanks to Jedi Knight Files.

Ricochet is an open map geared towards fast, intense gamplay with little room to hide. High powered weapons abound and jumppads are the preferred mode of transportation. Mind the forcefields and your fellow bouncing players.
Check out that CTF Ricochet level including the five screenshots.

 GamersInfo Reviews X-Men Legends
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:39 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

GamersInfo posted up a review for X-Men Legends on the PS2 and here is a snip from what they had to say about the game:
X-Men: Legends transports your characters to a number of interesting and bizarre locals. The designers did their best to make each area fresh and unique and they succeed for the most part. Halfway through the game some of the environments start to seem similar. Within each individual environment there is more repetition, however, this is for a good reason.
Go check out this latest of X-Men Legends reviews.

Kenn Hoekstra & The Game Of Life
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:38 PM
Category: General

Kenn Hoekstra has been updating his site almost as often as I post news bits. Already he has 2 new updates. He updated his screenwriting page with more links and resources and has added a new story to his Musing section. I just finished reading why he doesn't play The Game Of Life anymore and that was certainly interesting. So go check out Kenn's World and see what stuff he's been posting lately.
