Mordenkainen released a map for Quake 4 that is made for deathmatch and goes by the name After The War.This map is sort of an homage to Hexen and Quake 1 with its medieval design and autumn motif but it is set during the Strogg invasion of Earth around 2065. In a small rural community somewhere in Europe the Strogg set their sights in the settlement's monastery where mystical runes are rumoured to be closely guarded. It's up to the human forces to defend and repel the alien intruders from these holy grounds. Check out After The War over on Quake 4 Files.

Lt. Cmdr. Salinga released another map for Elite Force and this one is called Iris and is a Quake 3 conversion made for multiplayer.Iris is a reasonably small map that appears to be a mountain base, the level itself is built into the side of a cliff overlooking a mountain range. While the map isn't large, it definitely has enough room to make for some interesting gameplay. Have a look at that Iris map.

Four Man Team Your RMG Mode

Just recently I started to replay Soldier of Fortune and finished it to finally get into Soldier of Fortune 2. The first time I played SoF I never finished and when I tried SoF II, I got bored in the first level. So now I'm actually enjoying both games. I like fighting in the jungle at the start of SoF II, that's pretty fun but one thing that annoys me is the way they handled level transitions.... I mean, you exit a map and the next level has a solid rock wall where you just walked through trees or you go through to the next map and suddenly there's a road? That's a weird design decision if you ask me. Ummm anyways I was looking on Soffiles for some mods and found one that tweaks different settings in random map generator mode for Soldier of Fortune 2. Check out Four Man Squad by Gloop. He made a nice mod which changes different settings for the RMG (Random Map Generator), this mod allows you to play with three extra AI players (instead of one) but also changes some other things eg. extra terrain to choose from. A nice mod which changes the RMG style a bit, a must have for all singe player players out here! So if you haven't checked this one out yet, maybe now would be a good time. I'm downloading it myself and will check it and RMG mode out when I'm done the SP game.

Xenox The Sith released Monastery on Yavin v.2 for Jedi Academy and is designed for Free For All mode.Time for a new map and I actually found some fun factor in it. It’s the Monastery on Yavin, a structure built on top of a mountain. Yes monasteries tend to be built on mountaintops these days… Hit Jedi Knight Files for the downgrab.

Here is some more Halloween themed stuff. This time Inyri Forge released a Ghost model for Jedi Academy. Now this is a very fun model indeed. In all it’s simplicity, Inyri has managed to make the ghost look like one using the transparent shader. It deforms slightly around the hip area but it’s no big deal as it’s just a ghost in a bed sheet. Now the model comes complete with team skins, a red and blue variants that sport the same shader which makes them look quite nice. In addition Inyri gave it bot support and new sounds which really add to the fun and authenticity of the model. And the end of the sheet doesn't move with the invisible legs so it gives the floating ilusion quite nicely. Rescue that Ghost off of Jedi Knight Files.

Lt. Cmdr. Salinga is back with an Elite Force map that he calls Monolith. The level is made for multiplayer and is a Quake 3: Arena conversion.Monolith is a well designed map with a great design and an inspiring colour scheme. The maps design resembled something of a medieval atmosphere but with slightly modern overtones, and weapon placement is well thought out for the maps size. Check that map out on Elite Force Files.

For some reason a Beer on a Stick can be used as a lethal weapon.Oh boy, this is a fun one. Firstly I'd like to credit Ghost, who is apparently the only person on the planet who thinks that a beer bottle on a stick is a reliable weapon. Despite its obvious inefficiencies, I thought it sounded *hilarious* so I made it :p. Also thanks to Kessno for beta testing this and ensuring me that it's functioning properly. If you find any bugs, blame him! Go buy a Beer on a Stick over on Jedi Knight Files.

Frostbane is a multiplayer map for Jedi Academy designed by FuL*CruM.I expected Frostmourne's long-lost evil (or, in this case, good) twin brother. Alas, I was somewhat disappointed to find that this is not one of those hacky-slashy things, but instead one of those places where you use said hacky-slashy things. Hmmmm, not sure what that means but you can figure it out over on Jedi Knight Files.

Category: Voyager: Elite Force |
xfreeze (Beta 1) is a mod for Elite Force that adds a modified multiplayer mode where players can freeze members of the opposite team.Freeze Tag is similar to the EF elimination game. When you kill someone, their body is frozen. When all the members of one team are frozen, the other team gets a capture point and a new round starts. The first team to reach the capturelimit wins. You can thaw your frozen teammates by standing next to them for a specified period of time (default is 3 seconds). This will explode their frozen body and allow them to respawn. So unlike the EF elimination game, you can thaw your teammates and bring them back into the round. Check out Elite Force Files and grab that xfreeze (Beta 1) mod.

{H3H} P!ng released a siege map for Jedi Academy that he calls Battle of Mygeeto.I found the detail in the brushwork to be most enticing -- the complex nature of the designs was enough to win me over. The texturing is also very much fitting, as is the overall ambiance which is greatly enhanced by adequate lighting. But the thing that really brings the entire map together is the skybox. The skybox itself is beautiful, and aside from a few obvious mismatches with the bridge lights it looks almost perfect. That map is on Jedi Knight Files.

Let Me Go is a multiplayer map by Lt. Cmdr. Salinga for Voyager: Elite Force. This is a reasonably small map that is well designed and has a great feeling to it. While I'm not too keen on the colour scheme, it does actually work well in combination with the lighting and adds to the enjoyability of the map. The map is itself very well lit and makes good use of weapon placement. By the way, the map is a conversion of a user-made level from Quake3: Arena. The map author this time is KniGht|RidEr and he put together a Jedi Academy level, designed for multiplayer and the level has a Korriban theme going on.Korriban is a popular theme for maps, probably because it's the very typical 'Sith' theme which appeals to a great number of people. This map is very typical of many Korriban maps in several ways -- lava, Marka Ragnos, and fire are main themes -- but it provides some interesting gameplay options. Yeah so I was on /id Games lurking around and then suddenly Town Of Witchcraft appeared on my screen. This is a Heretic, singleplayer level by Kaiser and requires ZDoom to play. The map is based on a small desolate town hidden deeply within the mountains. Like Plutonia II, I saw no progression into the project so instead of letting the map go to waste, I decided to release it as a standalone map. I was told that there may be issues on source ports other than Zdoom (no surprise there) when trying to open the blue key door. I only tested this on Zdoom (unfortuently) so I really can't guarantee that this wad will be stable. Cooperative play is highly recommended. So check that out!

Well that might be interesting. Personally I don't want doorways to kill me but maybe that's ok in a game. That maps was discovered on Elite Force Files.

Map designer Kessno11 upgrabbed a Free For All level to the Jedi Knight Files site. The map is called Dosuun Facility, weighs in at 1.03mb, took a month to build and includes bot support. The ambiance here is really quite perfect, since it seems like it could very well be a carbon copy of the original game location (despite having a completely different floorplan!). Certainly a small bit of eye candy here, and with a mid-sized free for all -- I'd imagine no more than 6 people would be ideal -- this map could very well provide quite a bit of good-natured fun. Despite not having much new content I'd say this map sure is a winner. Check that out on Jedi Knight Files.

According to the author, the map is set in an Earth based environment and should be played with 2-6 player (also more the merrier). That particular map (looks good if you view the screens) is available on Quake 4 Files. Sorry, no quote today! I'm off!

Devils River (1.0) is a multiplayer map that Putrefy_Devil released. This map is great and I really enjoyed testing it. There are a few bugs but nothing really to put you off. Some lights don't have a source, There is a couple of misaligned textures and in version 1.00 of SoF2 the plant models are not textured. But apart from that this one is well thought out fun map. Soffiles got the Devils River (1.0).
