 Mercenary Battle Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:25 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Nozyspy got his map onto Jedi Knight Files and this one is a Free For All level called Mercenary Battle. Here is a snip from what the reviewer had to say:
Sure we all love sabers, right? Otherwise we wouldn't be on this site. But sometimes it's nice to just have it out with someone with a big gun. Ask anyone who knows me - I like big guns. This map has plenty of 'em. You'll find 'em in the crashed ships, near rocks, in the base ... they're all over the place. It's a fairly wide open map, but with lots of places to take cover. This is one of those maps that's low on the eye candy meter, but high in the fun factor (or game play, if you'd like).
If you want the map or want to see the four screenshots before downloading it go right here.

 ESCmag Reviews X-Men Legends
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:43 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

ESCmag has a review up for X-Men Legends and here is the complimentary quote jobby:
In the gameplay department, Legends' combat system works flawlessly and is very easy to handle. Thanks to the simple plug and play feature, any of your friends (up to three players) can come in and start taking control of one of the X-Men. Switching between characters is as easy as point and click with the d-pad button. If your friend decides to drop out, the computer can assume position without a glitch. When playing alone, the game's AI does a good job of following your lead and providing team support. In fact, the AI is pretty accurate in following your commands for attack. So you can definitely count on them when hell breaks loose.

Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:08 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

Just spotted that Gaming Horizon has thier X-Men Legends review online and ready for everybody to check out. Here is a snip from the full review:
The Danger Room, as some of you are familiar with, is where the X-Men train and, it functions the same way in Legends. A multitude of Danger Room scenarios are available though most must be found in various places in the levels or bought from Healer. The best thing is that the X-Men receive experience during these missions also. And that brings us to the RPG-element of the game.
Get the full read on that X-Men Legends review!

 Deathstar Trench
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:32 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Over on PC Gamemods there's a rather cool looking TFFA/FFA Jedi Academy map called Deathstar Trench. Here is a clip from the author's description:
TFFA dogfights (works in plain FFA too) over the surface of the deathstar. There's an exhaust port that goes kaplooie when the rebels shoot it, surface towers and a big long trench cutting through the middle of the map. Each side has ships that spawn from buttons in their hangars. There is one big yavin hangar for the rebels, and three tie-fighter hangers in the sides of the trench. The surface/trench towers only shoot at the x-wings.
Once over there click on the 'show all' linkage to see the rest of the screenies.

 X-Men Review On GameZone
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:56 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

I dug up anouther X-Men Legends review and this one is on GameZone. Here is a clip from thier article:
The graphics are very cool, featuring a pseudo cel-shaded look that brings to mind the aesthetic of the comic books. The characters each sport a unique feel to them, keeping with their individual attitudes from the comics. The environments are great, especially the X-Mansion. There’s a great touch in the upstairs portion of the mansion, where you’ll find the rooms of the various X-Men. These each have little nuances associated with the members of the X-Men team and show what they do in their free time or offer a little background on them.
So anyhow go read the complete review.

Even More X-Men Legends Reviewed Gaming
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 4:52 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

Already we have anouther X-Men Legends review for the Xbox and this time its on the TheManRoom. Here is a quote from the article:
All the A and B button smashing brings an arcade feel to XML. Providing more depth and a break from the action is a robust RPG element. Each character has attributes and skills that can be built up after each level up. Properly managing these will result in stronger, healthier, and more interesting to play X-Men.
Well have a read of the full review.

 Latest X-Men Legends Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:58 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

Gamehelper has thier Xbox review for X-Men Legends online and here is a quote from what they have to say about the game:
It is so cool watching the team work together doing things you always wanted to see in the comics. Things like; Storm lifting a Morlock into the air with a tornado, Iceman freezing him solid and Wolverine pounding him to bits when he lands.
There's no direct link to the article so you'll have to go over there and click on the big X-Men logo on the Gamehelper page.

 Double The X-Men Legends Reviews
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:39 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

There's been two more reviews for X-Men Legends that have appeared on the net and the first one is on Extreme Gamer and here is a small clippage:
The AI for the most part is pretty smart when talking about the enemies in the game. Soldiers will use a number of ranged and close combat attacks when necessary, they will also run away and find more troops when outnumbered by the odds. The boss battles are challenging which is nice and rightfully more aggressive then the average villain in the game.
Nextly the other review is on Gamers Info and here is a piece from that review
My favorite part of this game is the large number of X-Men you can play and the many of those villains who put in an appearance. At first, you may only play Wolverine. But, as you progress, you unlock others mutants: Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Emma Frost, Psylocke, Storm, Iceman, Rogue, and Jean Gray. You also run into many enemies, all of them members of this Brotherhood of Mutants, which contains such villains as Toad, Pyro, Blob, Avalanche, and Mystique.
Until next time....Adios.

Adrenaline Vault Checks Out X-Men Legends
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:04 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

Just spotted on The Adrenaline Vault that they just posted up a brand new review of Raven Software's X-Men Legends. Lets go right to a clip from thier review of the game.
With a world based on the comic license rather than the movie, and a script penned by former Marvel writers, Legends is in many ways more true to the franchise than the film adaptations, no doubt to the delight of devotees worldwide. More casual X-Men fans such as myself aren’t left out in the cold, however, as much of the backstory, as well as the characters and their origins are explained via the optional scenes of dialogue and other extra material.
Hit that five page X-Men Legends review of which the last two pages are screenshots.

 The Ruins Of Shardmoor
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:31 PM
Category: Hexen II

Now its my turn in the news spotlight... During the past few weeks, after a bit of Doom 3 mapping I decided to check out my almost abandoned HeXen II levels. I guess the renewed taste of 3D editing in Doom 3 gave me the desire to work with the HeXen II stuff again. So I've mapped on at least six different HeXen II maps most of which are totally new. So today I finally came up with a title for this HeXen II, Single Player, episode of unknown length and thus The Ruins Of Shardmoor was conceived. All you have to do now is visit The Megawad and check out The Ruins Of Shardmoor that includes some xtra info and three screenshots.

 Anouther X-Men Legends Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:20 PM
Category: X-Men: Legends

ActionTrip posted up thier rendition of an X-Men Legends review. Here is a shot of what they had to say about the whole shebang:
For this review, my son (who is five) and I played the Xbox version, but up to four players can lead a team of mutants through the story that was created by Raven and former Marvel comic book writers. As a long time comic book fan myself, I have had to suffer though other games that have been based on comic licenses that just plain suck because the game creators did not ‘get’ what the characters or franchise were all about. Not so with Legends. From the graphical styling that stays true to comic books, to the story that is worthy of an issue of X-Men comics, Raven has paid attention to the details and shown respect to the franchise while keeping the game exciting and enjoyable.
Sounds pretty cool, doesn't it! Read that X-Men Legends review!

 UGO Reviews X-Men Legends
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:22 PM
Category: General

UnderGround Online has a review up (couldn't see a date) for X-Men Legends. Here is a clip from the review:
X-Men Legends is the first of the licensed X-Men games to go top down Action RPG. Raven meshes some new and unique gameplay with 15 members of the vaunted X-Men team. Think of this game as X-Men meets Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance or Hunter: The Reckoning. You make your way through top-down map-style levels that are filled with bad guys and a puzzle here and there. Much of the game is battling those bad guys and unfolding the story, as you and the X-Men team make their way to Magneto and The Brotherhood.
Hit this page and remember to scroll past the big advert in the middle of the review.

 Sultanate of Ruusan
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:56 PM
Category: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Sultanate of Ruusan is a Jedi Academy FFA map designed by Lord Kaan. Here is a quote from the review:
Anyhow, this is one of those maps that you have to play a real FFA on to appreciate. Like, with guns, y'know? And lots of people. It's a pretty map, and while it appears dark from the screenshots, it's not nearly that dark in-game.
Theres eleven screenshot to check out as well and thats all on this page.
