Ummm a new site didn't crop up, this is about a set of levels. :p $a]v[uRa! ])R@G()N released a Soldier Of Fortune 2, multiplayer, map pack that is called Planet Dragon. You'll have teleporters, jump pads, detailed buildings and a great amount of new textures. The result is a nice Quake 3 style of gameplay which is great! But that's what I think. That's all available on Soffiles.

NeoTokyo Review

Over on Map Review Shadriss reviewed NeoTokyo for Jedi Academy. The setting is urban... where, traditionally, architecture tends toward the blocky and squared off, with the odd curve here and there for contrast. This map does exactly that. Details are there to be seen, and curves are there to accentuate, but they aren't overbearing in any fashion. As it should be. That's all on map-review.com.

I took a trip over to Gamers Info and they have a review up for the PC version of X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse and here is a piece from thier article:As you work against Apocalypse, your base of operations changes depending on where in the world you’re needed. You are given several missions to complete in each act. Most missions end with a mini-boss to defeat, which serves as a nice warm up to the big boss at the end of each act. That's all on Gamers Info.

Quake 4 Review On Strategy Informer

Strategy Informer posted up a Quake 4 Review and here is a taste:Another fun thing is that a large portion of the game will be fought side by side with other marines. Some providing pure firepower, and some healing you or replenishing your armor. The AI is pretty good, nothing special, but also nothing that would irritate you. For instance, teammates ducking behind crates as you open a door, or enemies finding cover in between shots. All this really makes you feel like you're a part of the game, a quality rarely seen in FPS games. Check out that Quake 4 Review.

Skyscraper On Map Factory

Skyscraper is a Soldier Of Fortune 2, singleplayer level designed by Deadmeat which is a conversion from the Quake 2 map pack of the same name. You´re John Mullins, a retired veteran, who has been hired again to eliminate the next terrorists´ plans for attack. Resources said that their plans are to attack a skyscraper (again). This time around, they have decided to use the skyscraper as a "testing gound" for their new biological weapon. Their goal, as well, is to eliminate any "soldier of fortune" whose attempt is to stop them. They had already murdered your partner, Madeline Taylor, for a "price tag".... The sources verified that their primary target now IS John Mullins. Since it´s your life they want, so why not "hire" the best to get the "job" done right? That's all on Map Factory.

Quake 4 Review

1UP.com posted up a Quake 4 Review and here is a shot from thier article:It's strictly old-school stuff. Level after level, you twist and turn through the labyrinthine strogg base--aided sometimes by NPC allies, but most oftentimes solo--gunning down hordes of monsters and encountering the occasional puzzle or two on the way to the next boss. Within this limited format, however, Raven gets it right, with frantic mayhem broken up by suspenseful moments of quiet and a uniformly satisfying collection of weapons--many of which get upgraded as the game proceeds--to help you get the job done. Take a gander at that Quake 4 Review.

Here is some of what the reviewer had to say about the mod:Once in a while you get a modder who takes out all the stops and puts out something truly grand. I'd like to think this is one of those mods. After all, how many modders are willing to even attempt single player mods, much less do them and do them well? Get more info, screenshots and the downgrab off of Jedi Knight Files.

Sir Paul released a multiplayer level called Radar Station for Soldier of Fortune 2.The map is set in an Antartic Radar Station. I really like the snow, since not many maps have snow in it, which is a shame. The buildings look very nice either. Some buildings are a bit boring from the inside though. But hey, it's a radar station, not a golf club house or something. I didn't see texture problems or anything which makes the map nice to play on. That level is on Soffiles.

There's a Quake 4 SMP Patch Benchmarks Revised article over on AMDZone.Last year AMD executed perfectly their launch of dual core processors for their Athlon, Opteron, and FX line, with only a flash of the BIOS necessary for Socket 939 motherboards and the processors were ready to go. A large amount of software is already built with SMP in mind today, including Windows XP and most productivity applications and thanks to AMD's execution, two processors have never worked together better before. That's all on AMDZone.

Darth NormaN released Duel Carbon JA which is remake, from scratch of the Jedi Outcast map which he made for Jedi Academy.Wow, ok, people who have played JK2 will recognise this map…It is one of the duel maps from the MP side of the game. And no, it isn’t ported! I know it may look like it on first glance, but this map really isn’t ported from JK2, Darth Norman has built it from scratch! This is a really superb recreation of the original JK2 map. That's all on Jedi Knight Files.

Quake 4 Review

Hvo Devoted Gamers geared up a Quake 4 Review. The weapons for Quake 4 run the standard fare: Pistol, Hyperblaster, Shotgun, Nail gun, Machine gun, Railgun, Grenade Launcher and Rocket Launcher. As |HV| reported the weapons rundown at Quakecon, there was one additional weapon added in the final game. The gun not seen at Quakecon was the Dark Matter gun. Oh yes .. precious. There is only one firing mode for every weapon. Some other first person shooters allow you to right click on the shotgun, for example, and it will fire 2 bullets. This is not the case in quake 4. The way they fire the first time will be the way they fire throughout the game. Take a look at that Quake 4 Review.

Now for something a bit different. Star Wars Wintertime Story - Part 1 was released over on Jedi Knight Files which is a humorous 64.5 mb, fan made movie by Effendi that runs for 8 minutes 55 seconds.Well, this video sure is interesting. It reminds me of "day in the life of a Jedi". I especially like the part where the protagonist is arguing with his mother about how old their encyclopedia is. I do wonder if his masculinity was reduced any by voicing both himself and his mother. That is all on Jedi Knight Files.

Gols Duel is a Duel map (of course) for Jedi Academy and here is a bit of what the reviewer had to say about it:Overall I think that, while this kind of style is probably somewhat overdone at this point, the map itself by its own merits is relatively well-made, and has elements of good architecture along with good map-making. It could stand a bit more creativity, though. That is all on Jedi Knight Files.

Kenn Hoekstra posted on Kenn's World that he took a designer position at Pi Studios in Houston, Texas.I guess I wasn't really sure if I'd ever get back into game development and I never thought I'd leave Wisconsin in a million years, so this decision really was a big deal for me. Pi Studios are developers who worked on the Call of Duty series. You can glean some info about them on this Wiki page. If you visit the Pi Studios you'll notice they're working on an unannounced project. Should be interesting to see what Kenn is actually working on.

Over on Quake 4 Files you can find Shotguns at Dawn which is a Quake 4, Deathmatch level by draxel42.Shotguns at Dawn is a space map with many jump pads and is inspired from a Quake 3 map that I have never released. The original map was intended for more players. It was never finished and much of it was used in this map. This map was also inspired by the Longest Yard(q3dm17). It was intended to capture some of the fun elements of The Longest Yard while still providing a different flavor of gameplay. The consequence for falling off the level is no longer death but 60 damage and a teleport to the top of the level. You better move quick to avoid telefragging. That's on Quake 4 Files.

Council Tatooine is a FFA level for Jedi Academy by Bayoon and the reviewer has this to say about the level:Some of the features include; training rooms (what clan map would be complete without them?) and a large main area, filled with buildings and walkways, (which I personally think would make a great place for gun or FFA battles!) The best bit in my opinion though is a very large duel room, surrounded by stands and seating areas behind the walls. How are you going to see the action I hear you say? Well from inside the seating areas you can see through glass windows, on the duel arena side though, you just see a wall. One-way glass is great! That is all on Jedi Knight Files.

Over on Quake 4 Files you can find Better than Nothing (beta) which is a Quake 4, Deathmatch level by swelt. This map isn't intended to be my magnum opus, the best TDM map I can do. That would take too long. It seems to me that Quake4 is in dire need of more TDM maps as soon as possible. Hence this map, which is intended to be a basic, standard team dm map. That's on Quake 4 Files.
