 Mystic Gemini
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:31 AM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Lt. Cmdr. Salinga is back with another conversion map for Elite Force and this one is called Mystic Gemini.
This is a n awesome map with some equally awesome structures! When I first got into this map, my initial thought was Conan with a phaser? The concept of this CTF map (which will also support TDM, FFA and Solomatch) right up there with sliced bread and soft toilet paper...once you have (played) it, you don't know how you would do without it!
Check out Mystic Gemini over on Elite Force Files.

 Quake 4 Arena
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:08 PM
Category: Quake

The Quake 4 Arena is a deathmatch map that B_L_A_S_T_E_R designed, which happens to be a rebuild of an older Quake 3 Arena map the developer made ages ago.
Take the high ground in The Quake 4 Arena for sniping positions and use the jumpads to move about the level quickly. The ability to keep moving is essential as there are no real places to hide, so you will want to employ the duck-n-weave method of movement! Oh and watch your step! You don't want to get scorched by the lava flowing beneath you.
The map is available on Quake 4 Files.

 Jedi Zora v3.0 Skin Pack
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:25 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

The featured skin pack on Jedi Knight Files is this one Me0is0Jade released that's called Jedi_Zora (3.0) and it just happens to be the featured skin pack.
This pack is comprised of a series of heads, torsos, and legs to further bring out the potential and beauty in the female Zabrak. Including the original clothing, there are several kinds of tops, each with their own degree of modesty, some being a tad skimpy, others being a full cover up. The same can be said for the leg selections as well. Most strange to note is that there is a somewhat suggestive gray skin variant that appears to be nude, but more like X-men's Mystique nude rather than "OMG BOOBIES!"
Force grab some Jedi_Zora (3.0) goodness.

 Naboo Town
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:35 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

mynok's mother and Greedo put together a Free For All map for Jedi Academy that is called Naboo Town.
The main setting of the map is primarily in some quarter of a naboo town of sorts, mimicking the Italian-inspired architecture rather decently, on the outside, with a few buildings here and there, some archways decorating the street, and a nice river flowing through the town with a grate to block off the exit.
Hit the Naboo Town over on Jedi Knight Files.

 Rush To The Disco
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:36 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Lt. Cmdr. Salinga is back with another conversion map for Elite Force. This particular deathmatch level was originally a Quake 3: Arena map designed by acid... it goes by the name Rush To The Disco.
Getting from one level to another is a simple task as all you need to do is locate, and head for the Arrows that are pointing, conveniently enough, up; So, to make a fast getaway, or to take a moment to catch your breath, search one of these out. The jump pads and teleporters are placed throughout the map, so the chances of being boxed in are slim.
That map is available on Elite Force Files.

 Blackfords Airport
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:06 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune

If you look on Soffiles there is a Blackfords Airport map that ST. Wombat released for Soldier of Fortune 2 Gold Edition.
This map was originally based on my hometown airport, but with a few twists... A map for all types of players, runners, killers and campers.
Take a look at Blackfords Airport over on Soffiles.

 Relive The Hoth Invasion
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:10 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

Lets hit Jedi Knight Files again because there's a Hoth that looks pretty interesting, which is made for Free For All.
The main factor that will probably set this map apart is its new script sequence. Along with having the vehicles and other supplies ready, this map contains a button located in the command center that will essentially allow you to recreate the battle of Hoth. Quite impressive actually. Starts with the probe droid, and then the drop ships come =_,= and then...mayhem...Sort of v_v unfortunately it's up to the players to fend off the invasion, with no NPC backup.
That's all on Jedi Knight Files.

Check Out This South Tower Map
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:02 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

Over on Jedi Knight Files you can check out South Tower (1.1) that is a Free For All map designed by -Alice-.
Basically what we have is a large courtyard – including some nice pond type areas – surrounding the main building. In the middle of the main building is…a large tower! This I presume is the reason for the map being called ‘South Tower’. The map is well laid out and would be excellent for an FFA of any kind, either with sabers or guns, since there is plenty of areas to hide in, and lots of cover too.
Hit Jedi Knight Files to find that South Tower (1.1).

 Ceremus Duel
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:57 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

Exonimus released Ceremus Duel for Jedi Academy. This is a deul map with a middle-ages theme going on.
It is part of a larger map I'm working on, but I liked one room a lot. So much that I decided to release a duel map of it. So, here it is.This is one of my first maps(actually, first release ever), so any suggestions are welcome.
That map is on Jedi Knight Files if ye wants it.

Art Of The Deviant Elite Forces Part One
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:01 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

It gets boring always yakking about some mod and Raven Software is so secretive & quiet, it's like waiting for something to happen in a ghost town.... so I put together some links to deviantArt with a focus on Elite Force. Last time I did this (too bad I can't link to individual news posts) I used Jedi Knight as the subject. So there's a few interesting pieces to explore.

 Rosh's Lightsaber
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:56 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

The featured hilt on Jedi Knight Files is Roshs Lightsaber that 1ShotDoctor glued together.
Shaders are included, giving it a nice chrome look to it. And strangely enough, the shaders combined with the eight-sidedness gives the whole saber a straight-cut, geometric feel to it, as if it were eight-sided in real life too.
Go get some of Roshs Lightsaber.

 RPG CTF Battletactic2 Beta 2
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:06 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Arron_Dominion released beta 2 of a RPG map for Elite Force that is called RPG CTF Battletactic2.
Deck 1 includes a Ready Room, Station OPS, Briefing Room, Shuttlebay, Fighter Hangar Bay, Science Lab, and the Turbolift Lobby. Deck 2 includes Messhall, Crew Quarters, Armory and Officer Quarters. Deck 3, featured in the last beta, includes Sickbay, Transporter Room(main spawn), Obstacle Course, Hand-to-Hand Training/Simulation Entrance Lobby, Assembly Room, Dean's Office. This is a radically different version than the last. The sickbay is more filled out, instead of the empty look of the old version. Also, I believe the Hand-to-Hand Training center was not in the last version.
Check out RPG CTF Battletactic2 over on Elite Force Files.

 Grab Some Mandalorians
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:56 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

Laam'inui (Squishy Tomato) released some Mandalorians on the Jedi Academy community over on Jedi Knight Files. The review ~Nozyspy~ did up for the file includes this portion:
The skinning job is excellent, and I didn’t notice any bugs whilst I was testing these skins out. The range of customisation was also most impressive, with a choice of heads both with and without the helmet. Also changeable was the backpack, for which you have three different selections, the fourth one being no backpack at all.
Go grab some Mandalorians or not. I'm off to find some cheese...

 Small Update On Requiem
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:14 AM
Category: Quake

There is some news on Mod db concerning the Quake 4 mod, Requiem: Avenging Angel. MaX reports that they were hacked but didn't lose anything and nothing was leaked.
But, we didn't lose any datas, and especially, nothing was leaked. We are currently working with cain on the pre-release of Requiem, which will feature two maps. Stay tuned, videos and download available soon.
Check out the Requiem page for more info on the mod.

 CTF VOY1
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:41 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Here is another Elite Force that sorbet uploaded on Elite Force Files. This one is called CTF VOY1 KLN and is a CTF map.... yeah CTF as in Capture The Flag.
CTF VOY1 KLN is a retexture for the popular stock map, CTF VOY1. As you may be able to guess from the name, and the screenshot below, this retexture gives the area a Klingon make over. Overall an interesting change and definitely worth taking a look at.
That is on Elite Force Files.

 Final Star Killer Skin
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:33 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

Here is the final version of Xin2121's Star Killer skin for Jedi Academy.
As Nozyspy stated twice in his reviews of the previous versions of this file, the HS Anakin model fits this skin very well and the armor looks very realistic on it. The different parts of the tunic, armor, and various little doodads all fit the model very well and nothing really looks out of place... EXCEPT: Bum bum bum, the lips.
Grab some Star Killer over on Jedi Knight Files.

 Korax On Ultimate Quake Engine
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:03 AM
Category: General

Korax posted this thread on the forum concerning his Ultimate Quake Engine project. First up is this UQE Journal page and the newest info on there is at the top.The Ultimate Quake Engine is not to be confused with The Unofficial Quake Engine.
Ultimate Quake Engine is a brand new from the ground-up engine I'm working on, designed in C#, that is a combination of all the skills and experience I've built up over the years regarding the Quake architecture. Ultimate Quake Engine will take the best features/ideas from NewHexen, UQE Hexen2 and Quake 3 Arena and put it all together in one modernized .NET/XNA based engine.
So hit that Journal and the thread for more info.

 High Stakes Duel
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:20 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

I was on Jedi Knight Files again and BlueNinja released a deul map for Jedi Academy that goes by the name High Stakes Duel.
Basically, this is a series of platforms built for roughly 2 people to skirmish on briefly, along with some narrow catwalks. All of which are suspended over an electrical pit =_,= and all can be viewed from the delightfully dark spectator boxes provided.
Grab that map off of Jedi Knight Files.

Here is a pack with edited efx that included few blood, flash muzzles, explosion, impactions and so on =D
Go take a look at that on Quake 4 Files.

 CTF KLN 3 (K1N1 Reloaded)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:04 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Here is a CTF map for Elite Force that sorbet put together which is called CTF KLN 3 (kln1 reloaded) and is based on the original ctf_kln1.
As opposed to the original map, having each teams base on an L shape, kln3 pits each teams base directly opposite one another. Making the map quite a bit more symmetrical and definitely something nicer to look at; kln3 is a fantastic revival for a classic map and is bound to be something you might enjoy.
Have a peek at CTF KLN 3 (kln1 reloaded) over on Elite Force Files.

 Elite Council
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:44 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

Here is a Free For All map for Jedi Outcast that has the title Elite Council, which was designed by Orshay. Here is some of what the reviewer, ~Nozyspy~ has to say about this clan map.
First of all, there is a nice colonnaded walkway that leads into the main lobby area. The colonnade area uses textures from the Valley of the Jedi cut-scene level in JK2, which is good to see, since it seems to be pretty rare that these textures are actually used in maps. Paths to other parts of the map lead off from this lobby, which has a rather nice sculpture of the ‘JK’ Jedi Knight Lightsaber symbol in the middle. I personally thought this was a very nice touch, and looked good too!
Read more over on Jedi Knight Files!

Raven Releases Heretic / Hexen Source Code Under GPL License
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:00 AM
Category: Raven Software

Aliotroph? told me about this late last night but didn't elaborate and this morning g6672D sent me this link on the Newdoom forums posted by evilhomerdoomer. Due to the perseverance of Quasar (of Team Eternity) and the community at large, Raven Software has decided to finally release the Heretic / Hexen source code under the GPL license. This news arrives after Quasar got word from James Monroe of Raven in an email. Very cool news!

 The Ancient Truth Updated
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:43 PM
Category: Quake

It was back in May that I first noticed The Ancient Truth mod for Quake 4. Since then, the team has updated their site with community questions, a FAQ, soundtrack (three mp3's), new renders and a Museum map tech demo.
In the previous media update we showed you the Super Blaster, a pistol which will replace the standard Blaster, this time we show you two new weapons, the Hand Grenades and the Chaingun, also we are still thinking to add some other new weapons.
Check out The Ancient Truth.

 Canyon Oasis Remix
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:40 PM
Category: Soldier of Fortune

MrPresidentsSon made a Soldier of Fortune 2 map that is based on one from Jedi Knight - Dark Forces 2, which is called SL CanyonOasisRemix.
Thanks to LucasArts for the original idea. I grew up playing Jedi Knight - Dark Forces 2 this was my favorite level canyon oasis. For those out there that remember it. Here is my version! There are great places to hide and snipe from great small 4 to 6 player shoot em up map. Hope you guys enjoy my version.
Check out that deathmatch map over on Soffiles.

 Shadowing Hate Revealed
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:47 PM
Category: Quake

Here is a Quake 4 TC that I've not seen before, which is called Shadowing Hate.
Shadowing Hate is a futuristic total conversion game project from Violation Entertainment using the Doom 3 engine, focusing on bringing an entirely new gaming experience to Doom 3/Quake 4 players, straying from demons and zombies, it will no longer be visually recognisable as Quake 4. It will have a variety of different environments and features using a different approach to detail. The project will also have a high-detail release, containing the original high-resolution textures and models.
That is all on Mod db. Also hit the team's site for more info.

 Abandoned Academy Finally Found
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:18 AM
Category: Jedi Knight

This particular Abandoned Academy map for Jedi Academy has been around for awhile but it's new to Jedi Knight Files and also new to me, so here it is, in all it's Free For All glory.
I would definitely love to see an expansion of such an old map if possible, although I'm sure Jenova has long since discarded the .map, so mebbe a redux or something would be awesome. Otherwise, I would definitely suggest taking a look at this map, regardless of its numerous errors. It's worth the look, I can assure you...
That's on Jedi Knight Files and I'm outta here... got some family / clan function thinghy to go to... includes spaghetti n other eats.
