It fix a buying bug and a few other small things. Game seems pretty stable so far.
Expect new maps soon, with new features! The maps running now are missing an important feature, the new maps will suprise ou greatly!

Its out!

Yep Gladiator v2.0 is out, you can get it here (15mb)

Please, Before playing, read the readme.html, it contains information on the new console commands that you HAVE to know if you want to fuly enjoy Gladiator.

As for the player models, they are defective, but usable so i decided to include them anyway.
We will update them in the near future :)

This download includes the server files, so you can host your own server on lan or on the net.
To do so, take the files in the Hereticii/TheQuest/ServerFiles
Place them in Hereticii/TheQuest
Edit gladiator.bat and dedicated.cfg to your liking!

Howdy boys and gals :)
We are back in action, working on Quest again, well i am anyway :) I have changed the interface a bit again, it takes less space and you can switch between 2 sets of stats. You choose wich one you want to see.
Here is a small preview ;)


Also, vagabond finished the Ogle player model a while ago, but Mithgulwen finished skining it recently.

Small update.

•Fixed Mithgulwen's name on this post ;).
•Monster now have stats too, might, wisdom, dex, magic resistance, ect....
•Each offensive/defensive item now have increse effect acording to a character's skill.
I put a section describing this on this site.

Wow its been 4 months since last update. Im very sorry, all the team has been very busy with RL work/life.

Ok so here is what i have been working on in the past 4 months.

•Removed telefrag, when spawning where there is already someone, you will spawn above them on theyr head.
•Player now can persue 2 diferent path. Look at the Quest forum for more details. I will add a class section info later on on this site.
•TheQuest story, phase 1 is done. We need to map the levels and finish a little coding. Skin Vagabond's model and we can have beta!
•Simulation of segmented player models. Its working for now, but not as effective as the real thing.
•The angel flight ability. Yep the angel can fly, right now its like when you are under water. I still have trouble with the camera when coming out of water though. If you jump high enough, the angel start to fly by itself, and when close enough to the ground he lands by himself and you can walk/run.
•Im in the process of integrating magic resitance to all the monster and player.

•Maulotaur has finished the first cinematic map of the game, i learned scripting and made the cinematic myself. We still need allot of voices for the cinematic, this scene i did sounds silly with my voice all over it!!! :)
•Vagabond (our modeler) is bored, he cant do much modeling for Quest untill we have more skinner for his models.
•Mithgulwen( hee hee fixed your name :) ) as joined Quest as skinner (that makes Vagabond real happy) And shes realy good :)
•Voltaes is back from the dead and confirmed he worked on 3 maps for Quest, WOO HOO! :)
•Jax is working on his mod, sometime he help us too. When his mod is over he and his team (i hope) will join with Quest.

Single player & Coop update:

The Quest team has started working on the Single Player story. After months of waiting to find a story writer, I got fed up and started to write the story myself.
Quest will include many cinematics, and NPCs. The story is not yet done, but we are progressing nicely. Work has been started on the first cinematic map of the game.

On the game side, we recently opted for the following changes.
-Each race will have 1 sword, 1 or 2 bows, and 5 different spells. No race will have same weapons, exept for sword & bows.
-These will probably be the races you can play as in SP/Coop: Sidhe, Ogle, Caurthorian and Angel
-Each monster will have its own stats(Might, Wisdom, Dexterity, & Magic Resistance). their damage, health and resistance to your damage will be influenced by those.

and also....

The Quest needs voices for 15 characters. We would like, if possible, one person for each character

November, 5th - Anno 2000
We haven't shown any sign of life in over a month, sorry. We are still alive and working hard. Ok so we slowed down a bit for a week or two :). But we we made up for that by working like crazy for the past week. So now I am pleased to announce that we are implementing Races in the game for Single Player, Coop and Deathmatch! This is the first list and description of what they will be, expect them to change for the better during the beta and after :)

Also the first beta should be sometime soon we don't know when yet, the code seems to be pretty stable, all we have to do is complete those darn maps (it's been over 3 months) and we can have our COOP BETA with very special selected friends (you know who you are) :)

I have just updated our screenshots section with some Screenshot from the new Gladiator release and from -our upcoming coop preview- and that all in a new javascript interface...;) Check it out.

We have released what we hope is the final version of Gladiator, client side. The only download the client
will have to do from now on is for new maps. In the next few days I will host a small server to beta test the server files.
Once I feel it is stable enough I will release the server files.

Here is what's in those client files

•This version has the player model with swords(which is partly why it's a big download)
•You cannot pickup any armor if u don't have a sword already(this prevents newbies from buying armor and no sword and running out of money)
•2 new maps by Jax gl_swamp, and gl_iceland(iceland is FFA only)

Well it's been 1 month exactly since the last update so I figured I should probably let people know we are still alive :)
Ok so here is a list of the new things we have added in the past month

•Server side saving as no password protection(sorry)
•New Giant spell (screenshot)(actual size models)
•New Low gravity boots
•Heal other spell(coop only, duh!)
•New Light of the Seraph spell(well it's still buggy)
•New Ghost spell
•Archer from Hexen2 now in Heretic2
•New doors open only when u press action
•The new icons on the HUD changed place(we might remove them later and you can check your stats in the console with a command)
•Next version will have player the model with swords

Ok that's all I remember, I'll try to update more often :)

Ok I have been able to add, change and fix alot of things in the past few weeks so here is a general list of the new or updated features in The Quest Single Player or Coop

•Server side saving: When a player connects the server creates a file with the name of the player in which it saves the new stats like might, coins, etc. There is a password protection so not just anyone can get your name and steal your stats(I'm still working on this as it's not complete yet)
•New spells include -Flamering -Summon Werewolf -Summon Insect -Summon Hexen2 Golem -Summon Yakman -Light
•Gladiator mod available if using new variable +set gladiator 1
•Added the Yakman from Hexen2
•Monsters will spawn money when you kill them
•New items: pick-locks(when coming to a locked door you can use your picklocks to open it, the success depends on your Dexterity|
•Might increases your blade impact and maximum health, Wisdom influence damage given by spells and Maximum of Mana, Dexterity is needed to use some weapons and picklocks

Merlin proposed a Town vs. Town mode on the board, and based on that, Jax came up with a pretty cool idea:

There are 2 towns, each with its own god/statue which respawns dead players from their village. The goal of both teams is to destroy the other village's statue so the town people will stop respawning when they die, and so kill them once and for all. Once the statue is destroyed any dead player will turn into observer and use the observer view to check what's going on until the end of the round. Of course there will be the whole item system, buying weapons and stuff for a price, but of course each item would have his own Might, Wisdom or Dexterity needs, so a player needs like 2 level-ups before he can pickup the phoenix bow for example(just an example). Each player respawns with absolutely nothing and goes to the smith to get the weapons they want if they are skilled enough to get it. So ,as the game progresses you could develop into an Archer or a Warrior or a Wizard depending on which skill you increase.

Suggestions and comments are needed :)

Also Jax has updated gl_andoria. He added a very big arena for FFA play, I've seen it and it's incredibly huge and very well done :)
