I went to see some friends one weekend, and had a real blast playing Rocket-Arena for Quake2 and the Instagib mutator for Unreal Tournament over a LAN. I got back home and thought " H2 needs that", so I made it. Here it is. Took a couple of hours to code.

Instagib now includes Grinbots for offline madness :)
I've been meaning to combine the GrinBots code with the Instagib mod for a long time now, but haven't been able to get around to it. Finally, it's done. I had to give the bots aiming routines a radical re-write to stop them being too deadly, but apart from that, the job went pretty smoothly.

To play with the bots, you will need Grinbots V09 and the new version of InstaGib.

The bots are fully playable on all maps that are supported by the GrinBots. For full instructions on using the GrinBots, see the readme that comes with them.

Note
The favourite weapon and banned weapons values for the bots have no effect on their behaviour with InstaGib.
However, the accuracy value is very, very important. An accuracy value of 5 will give you a fairly easy game. A value of 3 should be a challenge, and a value of 0, well, good luck.

Here's how it plays:
If you've played the instagib mods for Q3 or UT, then you'll know the score already. This is my attempt at bringing this frantic mode of gameplay to Heretic2.

The aim is simple - shoot and don't get shot. There is no health, no power-ups, no shrines and no mana. You have 1 weapon, the Damnation Hellstaff, which shoots a beam of hellfire that kills instantly. Shoot someone, they die. Get shot, you die. That's it.

During testing, on normal DM maps such as H2Scary1 a fraglimit of 40 was being reached in about 5 minutes !!. This game is very fast, very messy and bags of fun.

Installation:
Download and install Grinbots v09

Download and install InstaGib v06

Start a game using:

heretic2.exe +set game instagib +set dedicated 1

When the game loads, pull down the console, and load a map using:

map dmlight

Spawn a bot by typing:

sv bot spawn at the console

Prepare to die !!!!

Notes:
A fraglimit of at least 40 is highly recommended.
