Background

I started programming at college back in 1981 in VAX BASIC and Z80 assembler. Those were the days ;) For the last few years I have been working at Tao Group. We write operating systems and Java engines. Tao recently became more in the spotlight as the technology layer underlying the new Amiga, but Tao have been doing this sort of stuff since the late '80s.

I have a wife and two children and they are a big part of my life, but I try to squeeze in some programming when I'm not too knackered. :)

Hobbies include running and triathlon clubs. I haven't competed in triathlon though since around 1992 :( I used to be mega fit but simply got way too busy to do the necessary training (I used to train 20/30 hours a week once upon a time).

I also play an unhealthy amount of computer games. Quake 3 Arena is just SO addictive. I also love UT and Starcraft (that reminds me, I still need to finish the Zerg campaign).

Tools

Right now I'm using MS VC++ for editing and project/code management. I use Watcom 10.6 for compiling PMODE DOS programs. Of course I write a fair bit of code in the Tao's intent/Elate environment. I've really been impressed with the Watcom compiler. I also really like the IDE and tools - shame you can't buy it anymore!

I like Notepad Plus, it's a great little FREEWARE editor - check out RogSoft It's great for HTML editing. I also use Dreamweaver, and then hand edit with Notepad Plus.

This is an older version of Elate that I customised to have a Daikatana 'theme'. Notice a ported version of Doom and coming soon hopefully Heretic! Desktop 2

I sometimes use MS VC++ as a project environment (I quite like the editor too). Desktop 3

The start of any Heretic hacking project - pain! Note the excellent Watcom 10.6 IDE - I really like it (unfortunately they don't make it anymore). Desktop 4

More soon....
