Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders
Heretic was Raven's first game using the full Doom engine. Heretic went through a lot of transformations before reaching its final form. We had a lot of interaction with id on both programming and creative issues, which made it possible for us to make as many fundamental changes to the engine as we did (such as flight, looking up and down, etc.), while still keeping the core of gameplay (action and simple puzzles) that made Doom such a hit. Heretic was also developed during one of the biggest periods of change for Raven - we went from the whole company working on a single project from start to finish (Black Crypt and ShadowCaster), to having three teams developing separate products (Heretic, CyClones and "Collector", which never got published).
