 Goodbye To The News
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:50 AM
Category: General

I just typed up a big goodbye thing for the Mindless Games site since I will no longer be posting news on there and the same goes for here. Best to read that too, if you want. I'm not leaving the community, just leaving the news page. It's time for a change and both Phoebus and I agreed that this is what we both want. Thanks to Phoebus for giving me the opportunity to do the news on here. Thanks to everybody who read the news when I was posting it. I'm off though, to do other things. Take care everybody and be good to one another. Goodbye.

Dafama2K7 released version 3 of the Quake 4 shaders pack.
This are the latest versions for some of the most popular shaders out there. If you want Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey and ETQW to look the best, then check this package divided in four sections, just go into the one you are interested in and drag & drop the folder mod to the game you may want to use the shaders on...
Check that out on Quake 4 Files.

Free For All In The Council Room
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 4:53 AM
Category: Jedi Knight

SniperTheSpy released a Free For All map that's called Council Room Duel over on Jedi Knight Files and the map is designed for Jedi Academy,.
Now, since council rooms as maps tend to be boring to non-council members, SniperTheSpy has added a few things to help. There is plenty of room to fight outside the center. In fact, there's plenty of room to fight on the table while council is in session. There may even be room on the table for a small FFA with council still in session.
Take a jab at that Council Room Duel level.

 Hands On The Wolverine
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:52 AM
Category: X-Men

Game Informer put together this Hands On article that covers Raven's upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine game.
To them, Wolverine is a morally gray character – one who walks a fine line between right and wrong. You best not let his cheesy one-liners deceive; he is a loner and a weapon. A weapon who uses his claws to rip and tear his way through anyone who dares to cross him. This is the Wolverine that Raven wanted to resurface.
So yeah get your eyes... I mean Hands On Wolverine.

 Open Source Wolfenstein iPhone Port
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:43 AM
Category: Wolfenstein

I see that Voodoo Extreme reveals that John Carmack Released An Open Source Wolfenstein iPhone Port and Doom is going to get the same treatment.
I had been frustrated for over a year with the fact that we didn't have any iPhone development projects going internally at Id. I love my iPhone, and I think the App Store is an extremely important model for the software business. Unfortunately, things have conspired against us being out early on the platform.
That is all on Voodoo Extreme.

 Abandoned City rNe
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:37 AM
Category: Jedi Knight

Check out curacao's Abandoned City rNe (v3) which is a Free For All map for Jedi Academy.
Everybody loves abandoned cities right? The air of mystery, forgotten history and crumbling ruins… Well here we have a map that combines that theme with a clan map, an interesting mix, no? Personally I think it is a great idea! It combines two of my favourite themes, the location of an abandoned city with the individuality of a clan map.
That level is available thanks to Jedi Knight Files. Have a good day!

 A New Era Emerges
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:33 PM
Category: General

There is a change of plan concerning the Mindless Games & Entertainment Network. The MGE site itself will no longer be updated on April 1st... the same goes for the Raven main page. The news on Newdoom will continue up until June 1st. After June 1st the Raven and Newdoom forums will be moved to a new server and host. All hosted sites are being set free and will have to find new homes, this includes my own site The Megawad. What I do with the site remains to be seen. I will either move it, or start a new site or start a blog. The blog / site will contain my Doom creations and Doom news and possibly other id Software related news, just like I have been doing in the past on Newdoom. It will be easier for me anyhow once I'm no longer spreading myself out doing news on three pages, which was becoming a bit of a drag and had lost some of it's appeal. Read the official announcement because it's been updated by Phoebus. So it's not goodbye but a change and sometimes you have to embrace change and get on with things. That is all for now. Have a nice day!

I was on Mail Online and they report that David Prowse (Dark Vader) is battling cancer but is about to undergo his last treatment and is doing well.
Prowse revealed his illness during an interview yesterday with Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell, in which he said he is nearing his 'last treatment' at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
